Hardcore fans of MMA know who [Ben Askren](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Askren) is. He is the elite of the elite of wrestling. In fact I would go as far as to say, from a technical perspective he is the best wrestling talent I've ever seen in MMA. He essentially ragdolled every competitor he has faced in MMA. Unfortunately he never fought in the UFC and although he is undefeated he hasn't fought in the UFC due to a feud with Dana White.

In recent news Ben Askren has communicated his desire to fight GSP. Ben Askren is retired, but he is only 33 years old so he is still in his prime years. GSP on the other hand is a bit older, is past his best, but is considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time (and is a two weight champion). GSP in my opinion is the more well rounded fighter, in that he can box, he can wrestle, he can submit you, and beat you in all kind of ways. On the other hand Ben Askren is so good at grappling and wrestling that it's like he's super human.

The only fighter comparable to Ben Askren in terms of wrestling is Khabib Nurmagomedov. Ben Askren fights similar to Khabib Nurmagomedov but even more technical, even more efficient. So I would say it would be a great fight to see Ben Askren vs Georges St Pierre because you would think Georges St Pierre has an athleticism advantage but then we would as fans get a chance to see how technique can neutralize superior athleticism. I think Ben Askren has a very strong chance to beat GSP if they fight today and below I list the reasons:

- Ben Askren is 33 and GSP is 36. There is a noticable difference between 33 and 36.
- Ben Askren is the better wrestler by far. This might not make sense to people who have seen GSP and perhaps it's because GSP is a more well rounded fighter, but if it goes to the ground GSP will be in trouble.
- Ben Askren has a style which GSP has never dealt with before. GSP has fought wrestlers before but no one like Ben Askren who is a one of a kind kind of wrestler.

It's an intruging fight and I could be wrong in my prediction. I predict GSP loses a fight against Ben Askren. Because it's a fight he is likely to lose and the reward for beating Ben Askren probably is low compared to fighting Conor McGregor, I wuold expect GSP to not take this fight. It's a fight I want to see but which I know will not happen.

This would be interesting,  but yeah, low risk of happening : /

I am looking forward to April 8th Tony has been so annoying, like in the phone conference few days ago, haha interrupted khabib for 10 min, time for some smashing perhaps :) what do you think of the outcome?

Just watched all 25 fights, or the material i found at least, and I must say Khabib is a beast!

Which heavily favors Askren in my opinion. GSP will be even older and due to style Askren, Askren who relies almost entirely on technique will have all the advantages once GSP loses his athleticism.

GSP probably knows that too which is why we will never see that fight. Askren vs Nurmagomedov would be very technical but like with Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko it favors the younger bigger guy of equal or similar skill.  I think Nurmagomedov would go into that fight with an advantage and an equal level of skill grappling so it would be a bad fight for Askren but fun for us to watch.

I think Askren will defeat GSP. 
Loved the post, I'm a huge fan of UFC.
And 'Jon Jones vs Cain Velasquez', is my dream match. But this I'll never happen😅haha.
