Dangerous bet, Catch a pike or eat Surströmming 🤮 !

I made a dangerous bet recently, with my wife’s sister husband. He’s from Kazakhstan and loves fishing, and I told him if we do not catch a pike when he is here I will eat Surströmming. For those who do not know, most people don’t even get to the point of eating this fish before they 🤮 puke.
It smells really really bad.

Anyways, today we went fishing again and it was completely dead in the water. As they are leaving soon I prayed to Oden that I would catch some. And would you know, suddenly I had something on the hook. It was quite a fighter so I knew it was something rather big. Low on behold it was a pike!

No, but I've read a detailed description of a tasting event. Sulphur compounds are surströmming and chemical pulp mill processes have in common. Some people can't stand <i>mämmi</i> because of what it looks like. But surströmming is much more hardcore. :)

Thank God for that catch!!! Phew....dodged that bullet! The video has me in tears..... SMH, that's some crazy foul fish! Those guys are hillarious "i can't breathe" and they just vomit all over the trailer. Might have been smart to find buckets before that!! 😂🤣 Are you sure it's not dog/ cat food? 🤔

Haha it is human food. I guess it is like the blue cheese of fish here, but I haven’t met one single person yet that say they like it.
