*Given the way adult ADHD disrupts lives, it’s not surprising that chronic worry and stress often overlap with it. ADHD erodes self-confidence. New plans and projects feel ominous. Past struggles and mistakes are replayed over and over again, usually in an unrealistically negative or amplified way. Wins and successes are minimized. This is a breeding ground for performance-related anxiety of course, but it also leads to a sense of chaos and incompetence. When we don’t feel able to manage our lives and struggle to find personal successes due to our ADHD, we are going to feel chronically stressed and doubtful of our own abilities.*

What to do:

*While both ADHD and anxiety batter self-esteem and confidence, the good news is that they are both very treatable. We’ve looked before at treatment options for ADHD. Anxiety is responsive to treatment too, and often in a pretty short period of time. The most common treatments for anxiety involve medication and skill-based therapy.*

<center>I’d to share something with you all, I had an assessment last June with a physiologist regarding adult ADHD (ADD), I have been on Sertraline meds (zoloft) since 2013 because my Doc thought I was depressed and anxious, well, it turns out that I've had ADHD since year dot and I've been struggling along with it for the past 40+ years.
I f*****g cried like a baby earlier when the realisation hit me, and I shared it with my family. They were not too surprised and I now feel like I have a cool label to be proud of! I am hyper active and my head is a messy shed, but that is me! But you know what? I'm OK with that now! It defines my personality and I can now give my reasons for my impulsive and sometimes irrational behaviours and paranoia.

<center>***This really touched my heart and I can totally empathise!**
I find that people find me a little crazy and unhinged, but do feel as though I belong here, and on the various Discord families I now belong to!***

---

<center>***Me being an acrobat!***

I just wanted to share this with you all and make you aware of my ADHD ways and often impatience! To be diagnosed at 44 years old is quite a lot to digest and process! The amazing thing is that, I am a passionate musician and songwriter, and that's the only thing I've stuck too throughout my life! I also had weird withdrawal symptoms from trying to give up the Sertraline (Zoloft) meds! felt well spaced out but also very focussed on my music and crypto journey.
I'm now back on Sertraline 50mg and have to say, feel so much better.

---

Thanks for taking the time to read my re-post, and if you’re also finding things hard, please go and get some help! It’s an amazing discovery that we must embrace!</center>

The music he writes is often heartfelt acoustic indie folk with a sprinkling of rock and country influences, with an occasional world music flavour as heard on his track ‘Dragonfly’. But most of all, it's his passive emotive thoughts and feelings that are delivered through that soothing vocal, and intricate guitar playing of his.***

<center>I've been treated for major clinical depression and anxiety since 2003, they
Had me on Sertraline for a while, but it caused major sexual issues, and
So began the 13 yr merry-go-round of medications, all with various
Side effects (weight gain being the one that made me finally stop)
I was still depressed, major anger management issues. When
I stopped taking all the psychoactive meds, I dropped 20 lbs.
No other changes in diet or exercise, just stopped the meds
I am glad these things have worked for you, I am glad
That you seem to have found _**"your answer"**_ this is
Not _**MY**_ answer. I'm happy for you my friend.
Be well, have much success. Happy Easter.

Hey Jerry!
So sorry to hear that mate!
They aren't for everyone and they're certainly not a 'One size fits all' remedy.
I'm glad you found some peace.
We'll just soldier on like we have always done.
Peace to you too my friend.
Thanks

I didn't mean to be a "downer" on your post Darren,
I applaud your success in recognizing your problem
And in recognizing, you can begin your recovery.
@darrenclaxton, in something like 2003, when I first saw
The Adverts on TV for Zoloft:
"Do you have trouble sleeping at night, being unable to switch off
Your _**Racing Thoughts**_, do you find yourself thinking in
_**Circles**_?" I thought to myself:
### my GOD! They are talking about _ME!!!_
I was also in the depths of self medicating addictions. I give
FULL CREDIT to my present state of recovery from addictions
To my recognizing my depression, and getting treatment for that
Because without that relief, I am convinced I would be a dead man
Today. With (the final med we settled on) [Mirtazapine](https://www.sleepio.com/articles/sleep-aids/mirtazapine-and-sleep/) I was
Finally able to get a nights sleep without being drug or totally
Exhausted. After 10 yrs clean and sober, I stopped taking that, dropped
20 lbs in a month. I now sleep quite well most times, although now
My pain from the hip is a major issue.
I take Xanax [Alprazolam](https://www.rxlist.com/xanax-drug.htm) to help with my
Anger issues and mood control, and yes, sleep
👍

Life gets to us in different ways, who knows what challenges we face throughout our lives. In many ways you were lucky to finally make sense of the turmoil you endured through your life.

Keep on creating amazing music, and having fun with your son. That is one thing I do as well, act like a big kid...because in many ways we are.
