<p>The Karabiner 98 Kurz (also known as Kar98k, K98, or K98k) is a bolt action rifle using the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge that was adopted during 1935 as the standard service rifle by the German military forces under the Nazis (Wehrmacht). It was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles. </p>
<p>The Karabiner 98k is a controlled-feed bolt-action rifle based on the Mauser M 98 system. Its internal magazine can be loaded with 5 cartridges from a stripper clip or one-by-one.</p>

<p>The rifle had an effective firing range	of 500 meters (550 yards) with iron sights or 1,000 meters (1,090 yards) with telescopic sight.</p>
<p>Although supplemented by semi- and fully automatic rifles during World War II, it remained the primary German service rifle until the end of the Second World War in 1945. Because of its good accuracy, they were also modified for use as sniper rifles.</p>
<p>Millions of these rifles were captured by Soviet forces at the end of World War II and were widely distributed as military aid to their Communist allies. This weapon therefore continues to appear in conflicts across the world as they are taken out of storage during times of violent clashes.</p>
<p>This rifle is still sought after and valued highly by gun collectors.</p>
