Let's talk about curation reward today. As pointed out by a good friend @janicechua, the timing of upvote, the weight of upvote are all crucial and even if she does everything she could, but the reward value stays low. Why? Here's some thought one may need to consider.

This is my statistic from Steemworld.org as you can see there is list of author I choose to upvote. Majority of them are there for pure support reason. Even if we support, we can still do the math and support them in a cleverer manner. If your vote value can stay above 0.004 do stick to 15 minutes upvote. That way, 25% is the least you could get back your 0.002 anytime. Now you may ask, why 25% is 0.002? Well, at current steem price of 0.42, a vote of 0.004SBD will translate into 0.008steem, 25% of it will be 0.002sp. So, having 0.004 upvote is the best bet one can go.

The above screenshot is one of the vote I trail with @wherein-bit in support of rewarding @wherein users. My 4% vote currently worth only 0.002SBD, which easily translate into 0.004steem. 25% of it should be 0.001sp. But in this case, I'm potentially getting back 0.010sp which means it is very profitable. This is why, supporting community trail vote not only helping the curation trail, we as contributor gets a nice piece of curation reward.

This is another example of trail voting #teammalaysia my local community support. Once again, 0.002SBD vote out, potential curation reward 0.011sp could come back to me.

Some of these author, I give bigger support because I like their work. Does that mean I will have to sacrifice profitability? Yes, may be a little. But we can always take back the duration reward portion. In this case, 20% vote for 0.012SBD, which can be translated into 0.025steem. 25% of them should be 0.006sp. Still, I'm getting a little bit extra, at 0.023sp.

There are many ways to skin the cat, my way of curation has to be after the curation window due to community support requirement. If you can try to curate before I do, why don't you try 14 minutes and below, but that will subject to a burn. Part of your reward will be send back to the reward pool. Good thing is, you stand a chance to gain a greater multiplier of your curation reward.

There is no right or wrong way of earning curation. One of the best curator I've seen, with only 1000sp, he can hit an average of 1.5sp a day by 100% full upvote 9 to 10 times a day. But of course, those kind of upvote are not meant for making friends. Those are just effective upvoting, instead of socializing.
