I don't eat meat that often. But I do like chicken. I would be fine paying more if they were all free range. Unfortunately that takes up a lot more room, and the world is lacking farming land, it drives costs up and farmers are constantly being beat up by the supermarkets bulling them with low costs.

My problem is, I never know if a product is "bio" or an animal "free-range", "free air", or the producer is lying to us. There are some stamps or certificates but none seems to be reliable.

Oh usually they are borderline lying to us all. Not sure where you are from, but in the UK, we do have regulation but to be honest I think its not regulated enough. But these companies abide by the laws, but right on the edge of it, the bar just needs to be set higher.

Something comes to mind to do with bacon, this is a while back now, companies used to add water to bacon to make it heavier, still do, but nowadays there is a limit to how much they can add, and if it goes above this limit they have to write "bacon with added water". lol

If we're asking what's best for the chicken itself, without any other considerations, of these choices, I have to pick never being born. Either way, whether it's short and painful or somehow managing to create better conditions, at the end of it, the chicken is dead.

If we're talking about more humane ways to treat chicken before they go to their death, then I guess there's an uphill battle involved. It gets to the point of either do you want more expensive chicken, or maybe it gets to we don't eat chicken at all.

None of that really helps the chicken, though. There's not really a scenario here on the industrial level where the chickens end up living out their days in peace and tranquility.

I saw a terrible video from Wiesenhof. I will buy my whole life no Wiesenhof chicken and no other, which is not organic. I rarely buy organic chickens when they are cheaper due to expiration date. Why is this animal cruelty not prevented? How pathetic is that.
