*We are passing summer season in Bangladesh. This is the fruit season. A variety of delicious fruits are available this season. Among the delicious fruits, mango and jackfruit are worth mentioning. Of course, litchi is an important fruit that we should not forget. People wait for this season all year round to taste delicious fruits. Fruit traders also look forward to this season throughout the year.*

*But this year's picture is a little different. The whole country has been under lockdown from past few months. There was no way out except for a lockdown the way a dangerous virus named Corona is trampling the whole world. Every day new people are getting infected with this virus. Death toll is also increasing rapidly. The whole world is facing a new crisis and nobody knows when it will come to an end. The fruits traders are also suffering due to this crisis like other businesses.*

*The trees have full of fruit in this season. Some of the fruit is already ripe and the rest is waiting to ripe. But they are not able to bring them to the city due to the closure of vehicles. Even, no one is able to go from one end to the other due to the closure of vehicles across the country. On top of this, people are in fear of eating fruits. Many people think that the less you eat outside fruits, the better during coronavirus pandemic.*

*As a result, traders are being severely affected. Many of the fruits farmers have started farming with loans from banks. If they can't sell fruits on time, they won't be able to repay the bank loan. It has become a big concern for them.*

*None of us know when this situation will improve. However, today I heard in the news that the lockdown will be lifted from all over the country after the next 31st of this month. I still don't understand whether it is good news or sad news. Because at the rate at which the corona virus is spreading, life is being threatened. Even then we have to go out for our needs. Anyway, I wish you all the best.*

We are seeing some of the same issues here in Colombia. In one pueblo, a farmer gave away a truck bed full of tomatoes to avoid throwing them out. In some areas they are leaving the picked fruit out in the orchard or for people to come get.

It's a sad thing for those fruit growers and sad for us too as it's possible to get the lowest supply of seasonal fruit this year.
