Your "Brilliant Idea" is WORTHLESS! Exploring Money for Nothing...

<p>If I have to listen to another person go on about how they have a <em>great idea</em> for something, and <em>"it's going to make millions,"</em> I think I'm going to stab myself in the eye with a fork.</p>
<p>Of course, my friends get upset when I don't share their enthusiasm, but instead start asking questions.</p>
<p>They tend to get outright affronted and hostile when those questions hone in on <em>how</em> they are planning to set up their business and produce/bring to market/develop their idea.</p>

<p><em>"Oh no, you just don't UNDERSTAND,"</em> they say,<em> "I just want to SELL my idea to some big corporation for a lot of money, or have some ambitious go-getter develop it and make lots of money and give me part of it!"</em></p>
<h2><em>The World is FULL of Brilliant Ideas</em></h2>
<p>Not only do lots and lots of people come up with amazing ideas; there are actually huge numbers of <em>"worthy"</em> projects out there... almost all of which never leave the conceptual stage... because they are excessively dependent on <em>"other people"</em> to support them and create them.</p>
<p>Some ideas even get developed, but they end up being analogous to someone baking delicious cookies and then getting all upset because they world doesn't just <em>"intuit out of thin air"</em> that they should beat feet to that person's door with wads of cash for cookies.</p>
<p>99.9% of the time, creating a success involves years of tireless work, marketing, knocking on doors and publicity... and making it through dark periods where you feel like the entire world is conspiring against you and your project is doomed.</p>

<h2><em>The "Lottery Effect," or Money for Nothing</em></h2>
<p>Now I'm not saying that a so-called "moon shot" can't happen-- in fact, they <em>do</em> happen. But using that as the primary support for your brilliant idea is akin to basing your vacation budget on winning the lottery next week.</p>
<p>Although it tends to upset people when I point this out, it seems that most of those who are hoping for a pot of gold simply for <em>"having a great idea"</em> don't really <em>care</em> about creating things... they just care about their own particular version of <em>"money for nothing."</em> Or, what I call the <em>"lottery effect."</em>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We see it all over the place... people want to be <em>"found"</em> and taken directly to Hollywood to star in some movie that becomes a blockbuster and makes them instant celebrities with Porsches and Malibu beachfront houses. They have no interest in the days of acting school, working for local theater companies, doing advertising shoots, getting bit parts and eventually graduating to a "solid" role.</p>
<p>We see it with people in sports... anything short of a talent scout drafting the local kid directly to the NBA is almost <em>"failure."</em> The idea of working your way up-- and even finding a solid job in your chosen field-- is off the table.</p>

<h2><em>Unrealistic Expectations? Life has no "Easy Button"</em></h2>
<p>Writers want to be seen as <em>"the next J.K.Rowling"</em> based on little more than a sketchy outline in their journal... an outline some grateful "someone" is supposed to ghostwrite into a work of towering genius that becomes the basis the next Hollywood blockbuster.</p>
<p>I even see it here on Steemit, where some people get all upset because they aren't getting enough (in their mind) Whale votes to land their every thought on the "trending" page... even though nobody actually promised them $100 bills for every post they make here.</p>
<p>I suppose I feel slightly put off by it because it smells of "entitlement;" and of this idea that there should be rewards and benefits without suiting up and showing up.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Something for nothing-- no sense of reciprocity. It's out of balance.&nbsp;</p>
<p>But maybe I'm just old and cynical because I tend to base my choices on the reality I see around me... which is that most successes are the result of someone having at least a <em>solid</em> idea, and then being willing to work hard, persist and put in the time to grow their idea into something.</p>

People expect a lot of things for nothing.   There are also investors here who do not create content that expect content to be for nothing.   I do think they are in a minority, but I recently encountered such people in the community and I was a bit surprised they truly believe content creators shouldn't be getting rewards.   So they want their content for their investment for nothing.  

Yes, it is happening all over the place.   Entitlement is through the roof.    Responsibility for our choices and the consequences of those choices is at a low point.

It's sad, but true. 

To some degree, I think the original Internet "taught" people that the online environment was supposed to be a cost free endless resource of information, freely available to all. It was all academic based, so maybe that was OK... but it's not how the "commercial" Internet works... there are servers to be purchased and run, fees and what have you. This stuff is NOT free.

Lifr has no " easy button"---> you are right. We are life and " searching food like an animal". We should hunt or go to " green place" to get food also struggle even fight againts other.people, but as human we use civilize manner. Actually life is like "jungle". One thing the good also hard thing as challenging , can we beat other without make them feel lost ? Can we success without harm other people or our opponent. I ever read Jack Ma said " there is social responbility behind your success!"
