***After the records regarding football, let's go and see some dedicated to another popular and spectacular sport, basket, most of them concern the NBA, the highest world series in which every player on the planet aspires to play. Not just records, even lots of curiosities and a bit of history. Let's start again!***


- Basketball is one of the very few sports that have a precise birth date, this sport was born USA on December 15th 1891, thanks to the gym teacher James Naismith, who wrote the game rules, was initially designed to keep in training football players in the winter season, during which they were usually in pause.

- His full name is basketball. At his birth, he was used as target a wicker basket fixed to a pole, the referee had the task of recovering the ball from the basket when one of the two teams scored.

- According to Brook Larmer, an American reporter, the birth of the 229 cm tall Chinese player Yao Ming was one of the two births planned and specifically requested by the Chinese government.


- Nate Robinson won the NBA Slum Dunk contest for two consecutive years, 2009 and 2010, the New York Knicks player was the lowest player ever to win this race, he was 175 cm tall and had a elevation of 112 cm.


- Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues, is the lowest NBA player ever, 160 centimeters, despite this he played in the world's top basketball series in the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors teams.

- Suleiman Ali Nashnush, Libyan player 246 cm tall is the highest basketball player in history. At the age of 17 he underwent surgery to reduce his growth.


- Charles Hollis Taylor, nicknamed Chuck, made history thanks to his shoes, the now legendary Converse All-Star, of which the first pair was produced in 1917.

- In the game of basketball, it is possible to make "own-basket" only unintentionally. This rule was decided decided after a 1962 Eurocup match when Real Madrid to avoid extra time against Ignis Varese, who made a spectacular catch up, preferred to close the game by making point for the opponents in his own basket.


- The Washington Generals, during their 40-year history have managed to come out defeated by more than 13,000 games. He isn't a professional team but just a show-team for spectacular matches against the legendary Harlem Globetrotters.
