Raise the glass
do not be ashamed
you know who you are
others only guess

Your reflection
may be blurred
in the half-filled glass
that says more about you than
words

Most people fit into the world
unhappily
you fit the world around you
with
pleasure

Your timetable is set by
the pleasure principle
sacrificing fun for work
is never done

The smell of effort
the taste of success
one seat of many
belongs to you

An aura exists
you breathe it in
its power can
make you fly

Costumes reflect
passion
and hide
nothing

Words echo

As someone not drinking on New Years, I can definitely appreciate this poem. Stepping away from drinking for the last year and a half has given me a lot of clarity. We sacrifice a lot of opportunities for a "good time".
