Amazon Web Services Secret Region To Handle Classified Information For US Intelligence Agencies

Amazon has recently announced that a new region has been added to their AWS service that's going to be known as the <b>Amazon Web Services (AWS) Secret Region</b>; a <b>*cloud storage*</b> service will be able to handle sensitive and classified information for US <b>intelligence agencies</b> like the CIA. 


## The service is going to be provided to them through a multi-million dollar, *roughly $600 million*, contract that's in place with US intelligence agencies. 
<center> </center> They are reportedly going to help the *intelligence community* in the US to <b>execute their missions</b> with a <b>shared set of tools</b>.

As of right now, Amazon has claimed position as the <b>single commercial cloud service provider</b> that is able to provide regions that can serve various government workloads and the sensitive data that comes along with it. Those government agencies that have the necessary authority/access, will be able now to use the <b>new region</b>.

Amazon already offers a region of <b>AWS</b> that is considered to be *Top Secret*, fittingly named the <b>AWS Top Secret Region</b>. And this space, provided via the service, offers government intelligence agencies access to vast processing and data storage capabilities. 


For contractors that the US government employs, they could also be granted access to use the <b>Secret Region</b>, from *wherever they might be* in the world.

These Amazon services are now able to host data from <b>all different classification levels</b>, including that which is considered *Top Secret, Secret, Sensitive, and Unclassified*. The AWS services are allegedly supposed to help to improve the flow for intelligence communities and in-turn boost their efficiency when it comes to accomplishing their various objectives.

There are privacy concerns with the cloud and what if the grid may go down to an emergency of some sort?   I DON'T KNOW ...as Goliath woud say to Davey in the old 1960's children show.   Thanks for  sharing.

I suppose the purpose of all this data sharing is to give them MORE interaction, MORE input, and MORE control. So, surely MORE information in the hands of MORE people will accomplish this goal; since there is surely NOT to be another Edward Snowden or Bradley Manning.  Just a thought.
