It's estimated that roughly *1 percent of the world population* <b>has autism spectrum disorder</b>. There are millions of people who will be impacted by autism, either knowing someone close to them who has autism or finding themselves on the spectrum and dealing with their own developmental disability. 

## Many college graduates with autism <b>struggle to find a job today</b> and the job hunt is a serious struggle for thousands of other adults with autism too. 
<center> </center> They might try for many years and never be successful at finding a job, which prevents them from being productive adults. Thankfully, there are some companies and organizations that have been going out of their way to help address this problem.

# Hydroponics farm helping [adults with autism](https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/bergen/hackensack/2019/04/03/hydroponic-farm-hackensack-nj-helps-adults-autism-find-jobs/3333890002/) find work.
<center> </center> One hydroponic farm was recently unveiled by a nonprofit in NJ [known as Reed Next](https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/bergen/hackensack/2019/04/03/hydroponic-farm-hackensack-nj-helps-adults-autism-find-jobs/3333890002/), with the hope of helping adults with autism to find work by assisting them with learning new life skills. 

## They're looking to <b>grow produce with a specific purpose</b>, and plan to have all of the proceeds from their efforts of growing and selling produce to go back toward funding their own autism programming. 

<center> </center> They have plans to hire at least [5 adults with autism](https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/bergen/hackensack/2019/04/03/hydroponic-farm-hackensack-nj-helps-adults-autism-find-jobs/3333890002/) who will be employed to harvest, package, label, and sort, through the produce. They will be working with the new hydroponic *vertical farm* that's been named <b>Greens Do Good</b>.

There are a number of [programs and companies](http://kerrymagro.com/these-10-companies-are-hiring-people-with-autism/) that have sought to help those adults with autism to find work and to become high-functioning people, but there are still many out there *[who need more assistance](https://www.marketwatch.com/story/most-college-grads-with-autism-cant-find-jobs-this-group-is-fixing-that-2017-04-10-5881421) and who are still looking for work*.
