There's maybe one or two posts mentioning parenting, so it's probably not worth the hassle for that topic, since searching anything here is akin to needles and haystacks. I may have scattered some wisdom a few more times in comments, but more anecdotally than anything, and those are even harder to locate. There are a couple of posts about being a Grandpa since that's the phase of life I'm in right now.

The thing about this is, my experience in my time is going to be different from your experience in yours, just as mine was different than my father's, and so on. I think there are some timeless and universal principles that apply to all eras, yes, but today's father is expected to do so much more than what yesterday's fathers were that some of what I might impart would not sit well with spouses/partners/significant others. :)

Case in point. I was not nearly as big a part of my sons' lives in their first few years as I became from late elementary school on up. Some of that had to do with work, other of it had to do with naturally gravitating to my wife because they were with her all day, and partly because the interests of boys in the lower ages are kind of unisex—they'd rather watch televisions shows for all little children then say watch football or something like that. My patience for that and many other things just wasn't what it should have been (probably still isn't).

Nowadays, particularly in families where both parents work, the time dedication and responsibility sharing is expected to be as equal as possible, or so I've observed. In saying this, I'm not placing any judgment or value on that particular difference from my time and my personal experience to what seems to happen more often than not now other than I probably would not have fared as well with it myself. :)
