I really don't understand the obsession that my parents have with acquiring and hoarding "free gifts".  First off, these gifts were never really free.  They spent money one way or another for the privilege of getting these items for "free", be it through purchases in a store or throwing money away on bad games in the casinos.  Secondly, the great majority of these "gifts" are completely useless to our household and do nothing but take up space.  The most useless of these items also happen to be the most difficult to get rid of -- alcohol products.

My family does not drink.  Nevertheless, there's a few bottles and cans of beer, vodka, and whiskey scattered around the house as part of the family hoard.  However, most of the excess alcohol consists of several dozen bottles of red wine and champagne that have completely filled up several boxes in the house, plus a dozen or so more taking up space in bedrooms as "decorative items".

Here's the part that really pisses me off.  My folks insist that we can just give away bottles to friends and relatives when they come visit us... except friends and relatives hardly ever show up to visit.  So we can't give away these extra bottles, and we sure as hell can't sell them... and yet every time a new casino mailer comes in announcing a free alcoholic gift my folks __still fucking insist__ on making a trip to pick up said useless crap.

Seriously?!  Hoard __more__ useless alcohol that we won't ever consume and that we can't get rid of?  But perhaps the most important question I want to ask my dumbass parents is this: __WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?????!!!!!__
