<em>Entry 6</em>

"Sunshine? Ha! Really?"  

She flinched slightly.  She had been meaning to take that ridiculous tag off as soon as possible, and now she had regretted not removing it faster. The colorful silicone sun had been her mother's, and she had foolishly chosen to use the little totem as a visible reminder of her mother's perpetual light-hearted disposition.  Like some charm, she had hoped that it would shine its rays through her dark clouds.  It was a valiant attempt, but a miserable failure.

"Hm."  She smiled politely.  

"With a smile like that, I can see why Sunshine would be your tag of choice."

She took a deep breath. Clenched her jaw imperceptibly.  She wanted to tell him to drop dead, but that just seemed a tad aggressive. No reason to push so hard, so fast.  With some guys, dismissals just engaged the chase that much sooner.  How to play this? 

She looked back over her shoulder and acknowledged him. "I guess we know who has the sunny dispostion."  The full-wattage of her smile spread across her face.  She felt a slight pang of regret for feeling so frosty, but a nice smile on the way off the plane would be apology enough.  She would never see him again, and though she liked to create distance from beginning to end - it really wouldn't matter now. She had chosen the perfect vacation.  Nine days of the company of horses across the Georgian countryside, in the Caucasus mountains.  If anyone got too close for too long, a little click of her teeth would encourage her horse to create some space.  And if they didn't get that hint, an unfortunate crack of her rein against the hindquarters of her innocent horse would let her feel the wind in her hair - and - achieve her ultimate goal: isolation.
