The problem you have (and me, btw), is that the _kind of person_ you are (and me), are NOT in the center of the bell curve.

Sociologically speaking (and a few thousand years of history), _most_ people will sacrifice some liberty for some safety . 
Tribal, blah blah..

I accept  that _we are not_ 'in the majority' of the bell curve spread.

People will always accept _some_ government quite happily - law and order mostly, I would posit.  (I don't mean the shite we have now).

Now think of people  _just like us_ in perspective re the  independence issue - BUT, they are violent sociopaths who  will take and steal off weaker _individuals_..
..and so government, and group,  is formed...again, and again, and again...as history tells us.

I 'think' that is the reality of peoples, and Me/you are not in that club.
So we have to destroy government and rebuild it as small, and as 'theft free', as is humanly possible.

The ideology is perfect, but personally I don't think it fits in with human behaviors - and trying to put a square into a circle never tends to work out well. (communists keep trying it!)

...just my opinion, but I've gone from idealistic, to more  'pragmatic' ...and it feels like  a more 'comfortable fit', somehow..

I wholeheartedly agree with your perspectives, though.

Government is the lie that when A robs B and gives to C, either C is to blame or A is to be lauded as the height of virtue. No one blames A if they can help it. Hell of a racket...
