And yeah I knew where you were going. You just inspired me to write some things I've been pondering for awhile.

I stopped using Facebook years ago.

I decided to stop using Youtube last week unless I have an urgent job related (must watch something there for my job) reasons. I unsubscribed from most of the people I was subscribed to (have a few I missed) and sent them a comment letting them know WHY and that it wasn't their fault and letting them know if they were on bitchute, dtube, dlive, real.video, etc that I'd be happy to subscribe to them there. I did give up some things I like to watch that I can't find anywhere else, but I'll survive. I think the line in the sand was crossed some time ago, but now they have walked way past that line. I can no longer justify supporting them for my own comfort.

BGP is the really nasty thing. :)

Oh and just for the hell of it I checked a few things:

STEEMIT.COM is using an IP address belonging to Amazon. So amazon could take that out easily.

BUSY.ORG on the otherhand resolves to a cloudflare IP address. Usually cloudflare is just used for countering DDOS attacks so there is some chance busy at least can resist completely being taken down for long if it was just IP related.

DTUBE.Video also resolves to a cloudflare IP address.

DLIVE.TV resolves to Amazon.

STEEMDB.COM resolves to an address in Germany.

So there are vulnerabilities, but it may not be too terrible. DLIVE and STEEMIT are at the bidding of Bezos and Amazon as to whether they remain operational until they move it and repoint the DNS servers. Since it is open source I know that would be a temporary outage.

The fact they open sourced everything is one of the main things that helps us remain functional when attacked. Sites can be taken out, but there is hope we can get around those things.

As to banking... BGP can be routed somewhere else that then knows what to hand off... so they could use BGP to basically route traffic through something that allowed some through and not others. BGP is dangerous due to try to mess with requiring large blocks of IPs being routed at a time. Yet it is still a possibility.

If they are okay with some collateral damage then BGP is always an alternative that is worse than taking out DNS.

I click around on YT just to grab advertiser names, then write to them each one by one. I have time and this is the way I want to use it right now. 

I am not sure if it will help you, but *newpipe* is an app that will pipe you into the back door of youtube if you need to watch things for work.  You can subscribe anonymously, but no voting.   You can also download content for off-line viewing.  In my opinion, someone needs to clone youtube, copyrights or not. They are stealing the life work of users like SGT and Alex.  I am not up on who else right now. 

You lay out the risks quite nicely.  What is your opinion on github?  What kind of other damage can Gates to as the new owner?

As long as people have copies of the code off of Github I don't see it as a big risk.  I agree with what you wrote in that respect.

So what?   Simply upload the code somewhere else.

Real.video still needs some work.  It's only a little over a month old.   I put together the @newsagg headlines post for news aggregation from many different points of view.   I am thinking of starting to do a new aggregation that I plan to call UNCONTROLLED MEDIA that will be an aggregation of videos I can find from real.video, bitchute, dtube, and dlive.    It is not really easy to find the stuff so once I've developed a template I want to use I will start working on that...  it's for myself but may benefit others.   Doing such things does take some time... but there is a battle going on and I like you feel I must do my part.

That is one of my preferred places to watch various infowars shows.  Ron Gibson was a popular alternative way to watch on Youtube, but he was one of them deleted this last week.  He is doing almost the same thing on bitchute.

I also commented suggesting he consider doing it on dtube, dlive, etc as well.   Explained steem a bit.   Whether he does or not, is another matter.

Yep.  Cloudflare is one of the more successful anti-DDOS platforms out there.    Though that means they also are a company that can decide to NOT server people if they join in on this insane censorship and banning crusade of many of the platforms.   So far they have not.

There are other companies that offer similar services, but none as big as Cloudflare.
