After a long time and having brought from the death this job, here is what my proposal for the contest of @melooo182 was going to be ... a contest that ended, sadly.

But I still had it as a challenge for this week: publish the beautiful mantis made in pointillism (or as I like to call it: turning your hand into a woodpecker)

Actually, this work had a break of 5 months from the start (but it doesn’t take away it last half a week to only achieve the first half), being first as a job for my university. Even so, since the power of steemit and its community is so adorable and strong, I decided to give my soul back to finish this project that is now a whole week work (literally a week ... 7 days ... from morning to night .... no joking D:)

<h4>1.) Creating the limits. </h4>

As always I start by marking both the margins and the forms. At the same time I wanted to start with the darker part, so in this way I would have a better idea of how to make the lighter areas or the mantis’ body. It is good to start in the darkest areas, in this way you can mark the limits of how dark the paint could get.

These types of jobs are best done with time and with a not so heavy hand. Remember: patience rewards 😊.

<h4>2.) Time to work with the mantis. </h4>

Once I'm sure of the maximum level of darkness I can get without breaking my hand, I start with the mantis and its details. Considering how light the mantis is (although it does not seem that way) I should make sure to keep myself with a dark background.

As an extra recommendation: Considerate rapidographs’ different numbers and widths, usually the finest ones will give a lighter gray, no matter how close the dots are between them, in addition the thicker rapidographs help to reach the darkest tones more quickly.

<h4>3.) Making sure it keeps stable. </h4>

Actually, from now on I just have to continue making the points as if my life depended on it, while maintaining my loyalty to the tones.

Although I must be careful not to make a cluster of points that are over put between them, I also have as a priority to maintain a general view. That moment you should keep focused on an area, while with the lateral’s view you check that the tones remain as they should be :D, or to take breaks from time to time to see the image as a whole.
