What's In My Wallet? [Keeping Fire With You]

Hello All,

I've done an EDC posting in the past here on steemit but here I get a little more in-depth with one particular item I carry.

For several years now I've always deemed it important to have the knowledge/skills to be able to create fire by as many means possible. I carry a ferrocerium rod & lighter with me at all times plus I have some bow drill experience too but I also have a more discrete method of ignition tucked away in my wallet.

A black credit card sized item, what can it be?

The hardened, high carbon steel file strip can be used in conjunction with flint or chert (found in some varieties of domestic driveway 'gravel' for example) to throw cool sparks onto the char-cloth to create an ember. Likewise, sunlight focused through the fresnel lens will also create an ember too. Some fungi can be used instead of the char-cloth (and/or charred punk-wood) enabling a truly sustainable source of fire (well, until the file eventually wears through or you damage/loose the lens).

**BUGGER!!! The missus will go mad when she sees I've got carbon dust on the bed!!! ;)**
