Ahoy Matey!

When I was a kid I loved pirates. I even considered becoming one when growing up, not that I really knew what it is to be a pirate. I just loved their costumes, the fact that they were sailing all the time and their parrots! I mean how cool it is to have a loyal bird standing on your shoulder 24/7!

When I grew up though and understood what was their job -if this can actually be called a job- I didn't like it the same. No guts for raiding and stealing and killing. I am not even fond of sailing as I don't like the sea that much and I get nauseous. What I was left with from my dream were only the parrots. But do you have to be a pirate to have one? No.

So in one of my trips around the world I came across a fake pirate with his real parrots and got excited! He had many resting on him (shoulders, arms, head) and without further thought I run to take a photo and revive my childhood dream.

Well it was not exactly the way I had this in my mind for so many years as they are birds and birds tend to get attracted to several things you have on like buttons (not in my case), scarves, ponytail etc. So I couldn't let the gigantic ones sit on me and I chose the two smaller ones. Still, the green one seemed to be very interested in my bandana and from the moment he sat on my head he was chewing it.

A bit scared -ashamed but true- a lot more excited I got the shots and made my dream come true for some minutes! Aye!

I remember wanting to be a pirate and/or liking them growing up too. I was a pirate at least one Halloween and had a bunch of pirate themed lego sets as a kid.
