## The Story of our "Meulasah"

#### **Meulasah** is a simple building owned by all the villages in the entire region of Aceh, formerly **Meulasah** building is made with a very simple concept and use wood as the main construction materials, as well as resident houses owned by local residents, excess **Meulasah** as a building sacred only seen from the ornaments and carvings in some parts.
##### However, over time, many Meulasah buildings have been rehabilitated or recently constructed with concrete construction, the reason is because of the scarcity of quality materials and wood because the forests have been expanded and converted into plantation land owned by big businessmen

## Meulasah function
##### **Meulasah** is a sacred and central building for every village in Aceh, apart from being a place of worship and discussion, before there was a village office assistance from the Government, **Meulasah** also served as a village or village center, in general, **Meulasah** function in culture, culture and local wisdom the people of Aceh are as follows:

* **House of Worship**
The people of Aceh are supposed to perform the five obligatory prayers in congregation in **Meulasah,** while for Friday Prayers, to be held at the Mosque, **Meulasah** is also the center of activity in the holy month of Ramadan, from breaking fast together, Taraweh Prayer together and continued with Tadarus Qur'an

* **Place of Deliberation**
**Meulasah** is the main venue for deliberation on all matters concerning Village development program, as well as a means to resolve all disputes among villagers, because in the Acehnese culture all problems, big and small, will first be solved at the village level , if there is no meeting point, then the case will be transferred to the Police for further legal process

* **Education Center**
**Meulasah** is a place of study to study the science of religion, general knowledge and also as a place to conduct various skills training aimed to increase people's income

* **Center for Culture and Religious Rituals**
All activities related to religion and religion will always be held here, such as the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, S.A.W, Kenduri Reject Bala and several other specific events such as skill competitions for children and others.

>#### One thing that has begun to be abandoned and forgotten from **Meulasah's** main function by the Youth is **Meulasah** as a break for the unmarried young people in every village, according to the stories of the parents, once when they were single, no single young man sleeps in home at night, they are sleeping together in **Meulasah** after returning from the study house and will be awakened at Dawn by the village Imam, so there will always be Dawn Prayers in congregation, but now as time passes, this habit begins to leave.

#### The pictures that became the content of this post is a description of one of **Meulasah** which is still in the old concept, which is using wooden construction as the main material complete with ornaments carving and slightly modified with modern materials
