Very careful advice Before his death, David told his successor son:

# 

### And you, Solomon, my son, recognize the God of your father and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing spirit; because Jehovah seeks the hearts of all and understands every attempt of thoughts. If you seek it, you will find it (1 Cr 28: 9).

# 

Our ability to know, seek and serve God with all our heart begins with one word: humility. As the apostle James wrote:

# 

### God resists the proud and gives thanks to the humble (Stg 4: 6).

# 

Unfortunately, he did not appropriate his father's advice, but he abandoned his instructions and married women who worshiped other people's gods. Sin always has consequences, and although God did not break his promise, he did take away his blessing from Solomon's life.

# 

If you want the wisdom of God, make sure you are willing to have the humility that is required to follow the path of wisdom. God told Solomon that he could ask for anything and that it would be his. Instead of asking for great wealth and power, Solomon chose to ask for wisdom, which God gave him in abundance. However, over the years, Solomon relied more on his own wisdom and ceased to depend on God. At first he trusted in God and wanted to do the will of the Lord, but then Solomon stopped relying on the Lord and began to trust completely in his own judgment and ability. That was the reason for his fall.

As soon as we stop listening to God with humility,

# 

* We begin to hear the wrong voices: ours, that of the devil and those of those who do not have the best of God in mind for us.

# 

* We are easily deceived, and all the decisions we make out of God's will quickly become disastrous.

# 

* We take pride and have diverse boastful expressions of our independence from God.

# 

* We begin to make decisions according to our desires, not those of the Lord.

# 

* We hurt the people around us.

# 

* We miss the best of God.

# 

How can you avoid such dangers? Ask God to open your heart to its truth. Be willing to obey his Word, so you must give up something you appreciate very much. Obedience is always better than the greatest sacrifice. Our God is the God of restoration, and he will never repudiate his sincere desire to obey and please him.
