Please do not take it wrong. In my country, it's not allowed to possess a gun. 
Whenever I heard this kind of tragic news from TV, the guns took many people's life. So, in my point of view, all guns looks like a machine gun. No target and just trigger to anybody. Basically, I agreed your point but my expression comes from my experience. 
Please give your favorable understanding on it.

After seeing everything behind this massacre, one wonders how many more cases there will be where all the security mechanisms failed? I do not think that this is a case in point, other cases must be happening in other places, but maybe they do not come to public light...
