Yes culling is important. Whenever I get something trashy or ignorant in my feed I go to the poster's page and re-evaluate. Usually unfollow unless they impress with other content. Mostly they don't.  

In addition to your political commentary, which I think is spot on, I have recently started reading your fiction. I like it. Thank you.
