Suomieksotiikkaa STNA! - Abandon

Our evening excursion yesterday, after the sun had already gone down, had us following train tracks(to be seen later) and led us to this abandoned house. We gravitate towards these sort of oddities and our curious minds had to take a little look, capturing it all to the camera of course, for all of our enjoyment. 

It's always a little scary and exciting to go into there houses, you'll never know what might be in there. Be careful not to touch anything, mind the gaps, hope the floor won't cave in, what if there is someone inside? 

It was very dark and we didn't have flashlights, so we could only explore couple of the rooms. Filled with trash, broken glass, Christmas decorations and bedding.

*Suomieksotiikkaa STNA! (roughly translates to Finnish Exotics for fucks sake!) is a series where I show the uglier side of Finland, in the mids of all the beautiful nature. It's a sort of reality check, that it's not all winter wonderlands, lush greens and beautiful lakes in here. It's showing the gritty, old, abandoned, rotten and dirty, but it's also for finding beauty in those too.*

I am fascinated by houses like this - I stare at them while driving past, wanting to brave the "no trespassing" signs. I wonder how many of us are fascinated by condemned places. I always thought I was one of a minority. 

I guess for me it's a longing to step into the history. Similar to the appeal of geneology. There is something a little heartbreaking about the curtains and neglected belongings, but maybe they were discarded as junk to the previous owner.

You are definitely not the only one fascinated by the abandoned places. There is a dark corner of photography enthusiast who seek out these kinds of abandoned and rotting places. 

I think the most usual story is that the owner died, and who ever the house was left to, probably lives somewhere in a nice city and has no use for most of the stuff in the old house. It would be a huge task to clear out and renovate, and there would be no rewards from it, so instead they leave the house to rot.

The 2nd picture with the close-up of the flower has someone in the background.  It looks like a screaming apparition or with the way the hair (or hands) are blurred, could be it's face dripping.  That fits with the theme of the haunted house scenario.  Love it.
