LOL, yep. Welcome to the world of small, manipulated markets. Here in the US at least, all the markets are manipulated, and have been most of my adult life. I mean manipulated beyond the standard "management" the Fed. does. It's just that those other markets are so large that it isn't obvious reality is veering far off what the fundamentals indicate (other than precious metals, which are also obviously manipulated smallish markets). 

On the communities thing, yes but. Yes, I definitely feel like I'm a part of a few communities on here, mostly on Discord. And Steem Monsters is crazy addictive!

But there is no substitute for being able to have a group more like the ones on FB that is on this platform, where you can have stuff come up in your feed on topics you follow, not just people you follow.

They may be more the 50k  accounts transacting but the recent netcoin voting thingy reflected just how few people out of those  50k+  actually care enough to help steem succeed.

hit the nail on the head man. development hasn’t slowed at all. and the RIGHT people are highly engaged in the blockchain. 

the entire crypto sphere is in a bear market, it’s not just steem. and that i think gets lost in the noise. 

bear or bull. steem is here for the long run!!

Excellent review, my friend and you are absolutely right that our ecosystem has gone some way to perfection and the community has played a certain role. I also fully agree with you that bearish moods now prevail in all coins, but I hope everything will be fine by the New Year! Thanks Mark

Sadly because made a research and a post for that matter after the whole netcoins go and vote thing the number of active accounts is even lower. By active as you said to it counts someone that does a transaction meaning at least one of the following in one day: *post,comment,reply,upvote,general transactions*

**Here's were it gets sadder**

From those 55k of "active accounts" a lot of them are bots and double or triple accounts many users have. **Also a lot of people use autovoting services and curation trails**(*i am not against this, i love it*) but they count as active accounts while they may not get in steemit for days
.Generally speaking the actual unique users in a day around 9-10k i suspect and others have said 1k.

I totally agree with not being concerned at the moment.  Those who have left probably had bo intention of adding value to the ecosystem but instead extracting it.  I think the bear market has overextended because the price did the same on the upside earlier this year as well.  As participants feel the pain, they are more hesitant to add to the market.  Unfortunately, Steem is still seen given its limited access to exchanges as another crypto assets which is now bound to the moves of bitcoin which determines market sentiment.  I would look past that as you do and consider what is being built here with communities  and how much we can enjoy the journey!

Well, I am also heavily into steemmonsters and frankly at the moment it's the main reason I am sticking around. This game even convinced me to go to Steemfest, because aggroed is going to be there. Discord is where the real interaction is and it shows what Steemit is missing, but it is also thanks to steemit that SM exists, so cudos for that :) See you in the splinterlands! I was lucky enough that some of these communities had already been established by the time I joined. I was able to fit right into them immediately and I didn't have the months of wandering aimlessly around Steemit trying to find my place.  As you have said, they number even greater now and new stuff is being added every day.  It is very exciting!

I have to say 
Price may not go up cause it doesn’t affect true steemians. 
If you have a whale like mind you are being rewarded fairly. 
If you only come ONLY for the reward,
You will leave. 
Price may rise only from fresh money. 
Other than that, keep enjoying a dollar less steem. 
By the way GREAT time to buy in Steem power.

Being invested in the Stock Market for over 20 years,  quite honestly this is nothing new. It's part of the "Game" so to speak.

Remember price of an "instrument"  is not necessarily based on Reality but rather the perception of Reality. But great Fundamentals will eventually win out in the long run as the Reality and the perception of Reality starts to align correctly.

Look at Apple and Amazon....prime examples.

I think Steem is positioning itself as truly a gamechanger and one that is incredibly fundamentally sound !
