Inagotable, parece querer abarcar todo el espacio con su sonido en su lucha contra el mal. La batería es el instrumento más terrenal del grupo sin ningún atisbo de espiritualidad. El solo de Coltrane se basa en tresillos, aludiendo a la trinidad y adoctrinando a sus compañeros de grupo. No se siente comedido, sino que se expresa extensamente describiendo las relaciones mundanas. No repara en detalles y se desahoga sin restricción. Entonces entra Coltrane en una discusión abierta insistiendo en sus postulados. Entra la batería en un último ataque profano, pero finalmente el tema nos muestra lo humano cediendo ante el Espíritu Santo. Así lo demuestra Garrison con su contrabajo entrando en un estado de paz y serenidad, recordando las cuatro notas, el nombre de Dios.
