Today I will be talking about a painter related to cubism but who decided to leave for a trend of abstract art, this is exactly what happened at that time many chose to continue with impressionist tendencies, other impressionist posts, pointillism, other fauvism and when cubism erupts begins to form what we know today as abstract art. Today it is Piet Mondrian's turn. Come with me to learn more about this incredible artist.

He was a master of drawing for many years and little by little he got to know the most outstanding painters of Amsterdam at the end of the XlX century. At that time he made his first paintings with a quite dark color palette where greys and blues predominated in very dark tones.

Piet Mondrian is of Dutch origin, considered at the time as one of the greatest exponents of abstract and cubist art, whose genre term called at that time as neoplasticism, the use of pure colors and strong lines led him to fully engage with abstract art, although abstract art had appeared in the hand of Kandinsky what Piet Mondrian perhaps wanted to do was an abstract style a little more perfected according to his vision. Although he also did not decide which group to belong to, in 1912 he moved to Paris where he met Braque and actively joined the Cubist movement but then gave up and followed his course in abstract art.

By the time the First World War began, he regurgitated Holland where he managed to establish meetings and strategic alliances that ended up shaping the neoplasticist movement, among the painters of the group were Theo van Doesburg and Bart van der Leck, the organization resulted in an art magazine called De Stijl where they promoted theories of color, and above all the appreciation of art, some philosophy and some political dyes.

In the beginning, he did not have much success after a few paintings he found himself painting the same thing repeatedly, then he travels through some cities that allowed him a break and give a twist in his conceptual proposal. Stop being so monotonous.

The critics received them constantly for using repetitive lines and primary colors to make their compositions. But it was Cubism that gave him ideas to give more nuances to his paintings, if it hadn't been for this, maybe he wouldn't have gotten very far.

However, all of Mondrian's art was linked to deep philosophical studies with spiritual studies, it was linked to the theosophical movement, which allowed him to explore his empirical capacities, a great part of his painting revolves around this aspect between the spiritual and the philosophical. Coming to think that when the being found with itself art would not be necessary, being art the vehicle to reach the truth.

His geometric abstraction expanded and was received with positive and negative criticisms, in the end, he made of his art a way of life and knew how to take advantage of the opportunities and always valued the teachings of each artistic group, fundamentally Cubism, it was natural that they linked him to the Cubist movement, although after the first decade of the XX century abstract art was well separated from Cubism and other similar currents.
