I could not say goodbye this week of photographers without mentioning one of those responsible for creating the photograph, this character was responsible for studying the effects of light and photosensitive chemicals, his greatest contribution was the creation of the daguerreotype. I am talking about Luois Jacques Mandé Daguerre. Accompany me to learn more about this incredible artist and inventor.

Many make the mistake of talking a lot about techniques where photographers but forget to talk about devices, those that in their beginnings were the main experiments that would end up defining photography as we know it. Daguerre is considered one of the fathers of photography, due to his studies and improvement of one of the first methods to be able to fix in a sustained way images in the paper using dark box creating the daguerreotype considers the first photographic machine, and without a doubt changing forever the history of the image forever.

Louis Daguerre was born in France on November 18, 1787, it is not unusual that behind the creation of a device that made an image this involved a painter, before creating this interesting invention Daguerre was dedicated to painting and the creation of scenographies for theater, however his desire to create new pictorial methods would lead him to become the creator of the machine that would carry part of his name.

But before creating and perfecting the daguerreotype he had already created another device, the diorama, which would allow him to take his large paintings to another level.

One of the closest collaborators who made it possible for the daguerreotype to be perfected was Niecep, a renowned lens salesman who provided him with lenses for his dark boxes. He became curious about what he was doing with the lenses, Daguerre after explaining in detail what his experiments consisted of convinced Niecep enough to associate for more than 10 years establishing his creative union for the year 1829.

Unfortunately, 4 years before Daguerre finished the invention, Niepce died and Daguerre had to continue with his experiments alone. By 1837 he had managed to photograph the first objects that included a bottle, some plaster figures, what remained to be adjusted was the range between black and white, the experiment ended on a copper sheet covered with a thin layer of silver 6.5 x 8.5 inches, thus consolidating the first daguerreotype in history.

Now let's understand better how it was possible this wonderful way of capturing a perfect image, the process began with a sheet of copper coated with silver and iodine particles, which in turn come into contact both substances becomes silver iodide, this action allows the material to be photosensitive and through the action of light the material returned to become p silver, the final process was to apply on the mercury heating so that the image was revealing. Showing the image showed its effectiveness.

For the year 1840 Daguerre presents his invention before the academy of sciences and fine arts of the city of Paris, in a manual he describes perfectly how the device works, having an excellent reception by the scientific community that with suspicion accepted the daguerreotype one of the most novel inventions of that century.

After success and acceptance he began to commercialize the invention, between Daguerre and his new partner they were in charge of building all the daguerreotypes of the time. Subject to his signature.
