In Lower Austria and Vienna you can find hamsters living in the wild on several meadows, i visited one of these meadows together with 3 friends of mine this summer. We were patient and waited several hours to get some nice pictures from curious hamsters living there. When we arrived at the meadow most hamsters hid in their holes and wated several minutes to be brave enough to get up and meet us. After several hours they didn't think we are a threat for them any more and some of them really got pretty close. Only some inches distance from our lenses.  *Hamster looking curious. Another important thing is when you visit the hamsters in summer you need to get there either early in the morning or late in the evening to be able to see some because the hamsters don't like the hot weather during the day and stay hidden in their holes.
