#### Dear friends, lovers of Italian football,
And so it was also the turn of "Scansuolo", a very "elegant" term used by the fans of other teams to indicate alleged favouritism that the Emilians are used to do when they play against **Juventus**, thus allowing the Bianconeri, according to their theory, easy victories. And it doesn't matter if **Sassuolo** have already lost twice in their recent history in **Serie A**, 0-7 against **Inter**, or that they haven't won against **Milan** for five years: the other teams, you know, don't make the news, and this is also what contributes to the greatness of the Italian champions.
Both teams take to the pitch in away kit and I am assailed by a hint of nostalgia for the football of yesteryear, when teams (usually visiting teams) changed kit only when strictly necessary to avoid confusion between the colours of the shirts. Today they would play one in black and white (but much more white than black) and another in black and green, and it goes without saying that the only reason to change one's uniform from time to time is purely for marketing purposes. The more I show the merchandise to the world, the easier it is to sell.

As the ball rolls after the first kicks, I am notified of news that is, to say the least, disconcerting: Pope Francis has been arrested for a series of charges that would make the most heinous of serial killers blush. Nothing else is specified, and apart from the first two seconds, in which the emotional side has the upper hand, I begin to reason as any human being should do in front of any news he reads, trying to dissect it in all its parts:
> Is the source reliable? Arrested, by whom? What other media are reporting the news and how are they covering it? Are the journalists I follow and who I consider reliable also reporting it?
and of course it takes me another two seconds to realise that it is fake news, and not even original, since after a little research I realise that it has already circulated several times in the past, also in reference to other pontiffs.
> The Internet is beautiful and offers many possibilities, but that world must be frequented with antibodies.
This sentence was pronounced by a journalist I once trusted, before he revealed himself in his nature of servant, rather than guardian, of power, and beyond personal evaluations of that character, I have always considered it quite correct. Many people think that the main stream information is now compromised and enslaved to the interests of the various publishers, considering the Internet the last bastion of truth left: giving (almost) for good the first part, however, we must avoid falling into the opposite error, considering everything that comes out of the web as absolute truth, because the risk of falling from the frying pan into the fire is very high.
Bergoglio's interview on Canale 5, relayed with great pomposity by all the local media, did not arouse my curiosity for a minute, even if not for religious reasons (or maybe it did, but the speech here would become too long), yet the 'Bishop dressed in white', as he likes to call himself, still managed to capture my attention in a roundabout way, diverting it from the early stages of the game.
Not so bad actually, because I think I saw, out of the corner of my eye, that the first real chance was for the guests, who evidently once again do not want to step aside so much. In reality, however, I expect more controversy tomorrow, because the team's ace, **Domenico Berardi** a.k.a. Mimmo, could not make it to the match, as has often happened to him in the past.
I think it's simply coincidence, but you're sure to find someone who sees something wrong, as the player has long been on the verge of a move to **Juventus**.

The two teams face each other openly and the **Sassuolo**, even without **Berardi**, still makes a great impression, showing its gameplay centred on ball possession aimed at evading the pressing of **Juventus** with fair ease. It's the hosts who are more dangerous, but there aren't many goal occasions, at least until the game-changing event: **Obiang** runs into the ankle of Federico Chiesa**, and after the referee called for VAR the first yellow card becomes a red card.
I say this now that my team has benefited: it would be time to revise the rule of the red card in football, perhaps providing a sort of temporary power play, in hockeystic style, even with the definitive expulsion of the player guilty of the serious foul; playing in eleven against ten for the whole game is too penalizing, it would be better to concentrate the harshest sanction on the individual, perhaps even excluding him for a greater number of future games, than on the team, which could be punished only with a quarter of an hour of numerical inferiority and with the obligation, at the end of the power play, to make a substitution.
**Chiesa** doesn't seem to be able to continue. The replay shows the full force of **Obiang's** intervention, with the Juventus player's ankle bending after impacting with the opponent's shoe, but fortunately not breaking. It could have been much worse, especially for the player, but also for the team, which has already had to change **McKennie** and **Dybala** due to as many injuries.
> If Pirlo hasn't gone completely mad wait until half-time to replace him, and don't definitely waste the last remaining slot for changes...

But there was no need for a substitution and **Chiesa** was fortunately back in the game. A few minutes to go before the end of the first half and **Sassuolo** seem to get lost after being outnumbered, but the hosts don't take advantage of it, eating up a couple of goals.
The interval passes faster than expected, almost as if there was a desire to get this blessed goal that would direct the game, and in fact **Juve** finds it after just five minutes, with a missile shot by **Danilo** from twenty meters.
One-nil, and now, with a man more than the opponents, it's time to relax. Never has a mistake been more serious, because the team of **De Zerbi**, not at all frightened by the opponent, by the numerical inferiority and by the score, continues to dribble and to break with courage when it has the chance, without fearing to discover too much. After a few minutes a guest's move, poorly controlled in midfield and even worse in defence by the improvised **Bonucci-Demiral** duo, found **Defrel** in the heart of the area; the Brazilian controlled it well and beat **Szczsesny** with his right. A well-deserved one-on-one.
**Juve** still had half an hour to take the lead, but as has often been the case this season on such occasions, they became anxious, and the action was slow and predictable. **Ronaldo** had a golden opportunity five yards from goal, but he unbelievably shot at the keeper - I don't think he's ever made a mistake like that in his career, and if he played the same play a hundred more times, he'd score every time.
As the minutes passed **Sassuolo** became more and more confident, while **Juve** were forced to rest. At one point the visitors had possession of the ball for a couple of minutes without interruption, so much so that they seemed to be the ones in numerical superiority.
> Hats off to this team in any case. Now I understand why they are so high in the standings....
I say to myself, as we approach the last ten minutes. The visitors look like a perfectly organised creature by **De Zerbi**, with the game centred on the star **Locatelli**, a midfielder born in 1998 and already a staple of **Roberto Mancini's** national team. **Sassuolo** bought him from **Milan** for twelve million, but he is now worth at least four times that amount.

However, **Juve** remembered that they too had several quality players, and from a cross on the left by **Frabotta**, it was up to **Aaron Ramsey** to push the ball into the back of the net, anticipating the tired **Sassuolo** defence. It's two to one, and with just under ten minutes to go I demand that no more tricks are played. In come **Morata** and **Bernardeschi**, for our side, and **Ayhan** for the opposition, who took off his gloves and threw them on the ground, after less than thirty seconds.
> Wasn't it quicker to go in without them?
Despite **Sassuolo**'s last valiant attacks, it was up to **Ronaldo**, on a counter-attack, to make it 3-1 on the last play of the match, thus widening the gap between the two teams and his gap from the second (**Lukaku**, 15 goals to 12) in the **Serie A** scorers' chart.
All's well that ends well. From the point of view of the quality of the game the **Sassuolo** deserved at least a draw, but that's how it is in football: sometimes you win when you don't deserve it, sometimes you lose or draw playing better than the opponents.
**Juve** are back in fourth place, seven points behind **Milan**, but with a game to recover and an **Inter-Juventus** match on the horizon. It's going to be fun.

E così è arrivato anche il turno dello "Scansuolo", termine molto "elegante" usato dai tifosi delle altre squadre per indicare presunti favoritismi che gli emiliani sarebbero soliti fare quando giocano contro la **Juventus**, permettendo così ai bianconeri, secondo la loro teoria, facili vittorie. E poi fa niente se i neroverdi abbiano perso già due volte nella loro recente storia in **Serie A** per 0-7 contro l'**Inter**, o che non vincano da cinque anni contro il **Milan**: le altre squadre, si sa, non fanno notizia, ed è anche questo che contribuisce ad alimentare la grandezza dei campioni d'Italia.
Entrambe le squadre si presentano in campo con la tenuta da trasferta ed io vengo assalito da un pizzico di nostalgia del calcio di una volta, quando le squadre (solitamente quelle ospiti) cambiavano tenuta solo quando strettamente necessario a non generare confusione tra i colori delle maglie. Oggi avrebbero giocato una in bianconero (ma molto più bianco che nero) ed un'altra in nero verde e va da sé che l'unico motivo per cambiare, di tanto in tanto, la propria divisa, è esclusivamente legato al marketing. Più mostro la mercanzia al mondo, più facilità ho di venderla.

Mentre il pallone rotola in seguito ai primi calci mi giunge la notifica di una notizia a dir poco sconcertante: Papa Francesco sarebbe stato arrestato per una serie di capi di imputazione da fare impallidire il più efferato dei serial killer. Non viene specificato null'altro, e a parte i primi due secondi, in cui la parte emozionale ha il sopravvento, comincio a ragionare come un qualunque essere umano dovrebbe fare di fronte ad ogni notizia che legge, cercando di sezionarla in ogni sua parte:
> La fonte da cui proviene è attendibile? Arrestato, da chi? Quali altri media riportano l'eventuale notizia e come la trattano? Ne parlano anche i giornalisti che seguo e che ritengo attendibili?
e naturalmente impiego altri due secondi per rendermi conto che si tratta di una bufala, per altro nemmeno originale, dato che dopo una piccola ricerca mi rendo conto che è già circolata più volte in passato, in riferimento anche ad altri pontefici.
> Internet è bello ed offre molte possibilità, ma quel mondo va frequentato con gli anticorpi.
Questa frase venne pronunciata da un giornalista di cui un tempo mi fidavo, prima che si rivelasse nella sua natura di servo, più che di guardiano, del potere, e al di là delle valutazioni personali sull'individuo, l'ho sempre ritenuta quantomai corretta. Molti pensano che l'informazione main stream sia ormai compromessa e asservita agli interessi dei vari editori, ritenendo internet l'ultimo baluardo di verità rimasta: dando (quasi) per buona la prima parte, occorre però evitare di cadere nell'errore opposto, considerando tutto ciò che esce dal web come verità assoluta, perché il rischio di cadere dalla padella alla brace è altissimo.
L'intervista di Bergoglio su Canale 5, rilanciata con grande pomposità da tutti i media nostrani, non ha nemmeno per un minuto stuzzicato la mia curiosità, anche se non per motivi religiosi (o forse sì, ma il discorso qui diverrebbe troppo lungo), eppure il "Vescovo vestito di bianco", come lui stesso ama definirsi, è riuscito lo stesso per vie traverse a catturare la mia attenzione, distogliendola dalle prime fasi di gioco.
Poco male in realtà, perchè mi pare di aver visto, con la coda dell'occhio, che la prima vera occasione sia stata per gli ospiti, che evidentemente ancora una volta di scansarsi non hanno tutta questa voglia. In realtà però mi aspetto altre polemiche domani, perchè l'asso della squadra, **Domenico Berardi** detto Mimmo, non ce l'ha fatta ad essere della gara, come spesso, per amor di verità, gli è capitato in passato.
Credo si tratti semplicemente di coincidenze, ma troverete di sicuro qualcuno che sotto ci vede del marcio, dato che il giocatore è stato a lungo in procinto di trasferirsi in bianconero.

Le due squadre si fronteggiano a viso aperto e il **Sassuolo**, anche senza **Berardi**, fa comunque una gran bella figura, mostrando il suo gioco incentrato sul possesso palla volto ad eludere il pressing della **Juventus** con discreta facilità. Ad essere più pericolosi sono i padroni di casa, ma non ci sono grosse occasioni da goal, almeno fino al fatto che cambia la partita: **Obiang** entra a gamba tesa sulla caviglia di **Federico Chiesa**, e dopo i soccorsi, l'arbitro richiamato al VAR non può che trasformare il primo cartellino giallo in un più attinente al regoalemento cartellino rosso.
Lo dico ora, che ne ha beneficiato la mia squadra: sarebbe ora di rivedere la regola del cartellino rosso nel calcio, magari prevedendo una sorta di power play temporaneo, in stile hockeystico, pur con la cacciata definitiva del giocatore reo del fallo grave; giocare in undici contro dieci per tutta la partita è troppo penalizzante, sarebbe meglio concentrare la sanzione più dura sul singolo, magari escludendolo anche per un numero maggior di partite future, che non sulla squadra, che si potrebbe punire solo con un quarto d'ora di inferiorità numerica e con l'obbligo, alla fine del power play, di giocarsi una sostituzione.
**Chiesa** non sembra farcela. Il replay mostra tutta la durezza dell'intervento di **Obiang**, con la caviglia del giocatore bianconero che si piega dopo l'impatto con la scarpa dell'avversario, ma che per fortuna non si spezza. Poteva andare molto peggio, soprattutto al giocatore, ma anche alla squadra, che ha già dovuto cambiare **McKennie** e **Dybala** per via di altrettanti infortuni.
> Se Pirlo non è impazzito del tutto aspetta il primo tempo per sostituirlo, e non spreca definitivamente l'ultimo slot rimasto per i cambi...

Ma della sostituzione non c'è bisogno e **Chiesa** torna per fortuna a giocare. Mancano pochi minuti alla fine del primo tempo e il **Sassuolo** sembra smarrirsi in seguito all'inferiorità numerica, della quale tuttavia i padroni di casa non approfittano, divorandosi un paio di goal.
L'intervallo passa più veloce del previsto, quasi come se ci fosse voglia di arrivare subito a questo benedetto goal che indirizzerebbe la partita, ed in effetti la **Juve** lo trova dopo appena cinque minuti, con un missile scagliato da **Danilo** da venti metri.
Uno a zero, e adesso, con un uomo in più, è tempo di rilassarsi. Mai errore fu più madornale, perchè la squadra di **De Zerbi**, per nulla intimorita dall'avversario, dall'inferiorità numerica e dal punteggio, continua a palleggiare e a ripartire con coraggio quando ne ha la possibilità, senza temere di scoprirsi troppo. Dopo una mancita di minuti un'azione degli ospiti, arginata male a centrocampo e ancora peggio in difesa dal duo improvvisato **Bonucci-Demiral**, trova **Defrel** nel cuore dell'area; il brasiliano controlla bene e di destro batte **Szczsesny** in uscita. Uno a uno, meritatissimo.
La **Juve** ha ancora a disposizione mezz'ora abbondante per ritornare in vantaggio, ma come spesso è capitato in stagione in occasioni simili, si fa cogliere dall'ansia e la manovra diventa lenta e prevedibile. **Ronaldo** ha un'occasione d'oro a cinque metri dalla porta, ma tira incredibilmente addosso al portiere: credo che un errore del genere non lo abbia mai fatto prima in carriera, e rigiocando altre cento volte la stessa azione, farebbe goal in ogni occasione.
Con il passare dei minuti il **Sassuolo** prende sempre più fiducia nei propri mezzi, mentre la Juve è costretta a rifiatare. Ad un certo punto gli ospiti hanno il possesso del pallone per un paio di minuti abbondanti in maniera ininterrotta, tanto che sembrano loro quelli in superiorità numerica.
> Comunque vada, tanto di cappello a questa squadra. Ora capisco perchè si trovano così in alto in classifica...
dico tra me e me, mentre ci avviciniamo agli ultimi dieci minuti. Gli emiliani appaiono una creatura organizzata in maniera perfetta da **De Zerbi**, con il gioco incentrato sull'astro **Locatelli**, centrocampista classe 1998 già punto fermo della nazionale di **Roberto Mancini**. Il **Sassuolo** lo ha acquistato dal **Milan** per dodici milioni, ma ora ne vale almeno quattro volte tanti.

La **Juve** però si ricorda di avere anch'essa diversi giocatori di qualità, e da un cross sulla sinistra di **Frabotta**, tocca ad **Aaron Ramsey** spingere la palla in fondo alla rete, anticipando la stanca difesa neroverde. Siamo due a uno, e a poco meno di dieci minuti dalla fine esigo che non si facciano più scherzi. Entrano **Morata** e **Bernardeschi**, per i nostri, ed **Ayhan** per gli avversari, che toglie i guanti buttandoli per terra, dopo meno di trenta secondi.
> Ma non faceva prima ad entrare senza?
Nonostante gli ultimi generosi assalti del **Sassuolo**, tocca a **Ronaldo**, in contropiede, fissare il risultato sul 3-1, nell'ultima azione della partita, allungando così il divario tra le due squadre e il suo distacco dal secondo (Lukaku, 15 goal a 12) nella classifica marcatori della **Serie A**.
Tutto è bene quel che finisce bene. Dal punto di vista del gioco il **Sassuolo** meritava almeno il pareggio, ma nel calcio è così: a volte vinci quando non lo meriti, altre perdi o pareggi giocando meglio degli avversari.
La **Juve** torna al quarto posto, a sette lunghezze dal **Milan**, ma con una partita da recuperare e un **Inter-Juventus** all'orizzonte. Ci sarà da divertirsi.
