Retro Review - Cyberbots Full Metal Madness

I've already said that fighting games are not my favorite genre of video games, however what caught my attention in the title I'll tell you about next is its aesthetics, at first when I saw this video game its style was very familiar and I quickly realized that it has the same designs of Armored Warrios (game of which I already made its review), because this title is a spin-off of that game and even though I don't like this genre of video games that much, just because I found their graphic style spectacular was what made me want to play it and I really enjoyed it.

Once again I won't talk about the plot of a fighting game, as I said in many of the games of this genre the story goes quite unnoticed and really in the fighting games of that time nobody paid attention to that, we just focused on fighting, but as a spin-off of this title we will see some characters previously seen in Armored Warriors and some totally new ones. And unlike the main title, in Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness by choosing a Mecca we'll also be able to choose a driver from a fairly varied list and depending on the character we choose their story will be a little more different than the others, as will the enemies we'll be fighting throughout the duration of this game, but in itself, the story isn't that important in Cyberbots.

Ok, talking about the graphic section, clearly there is an improvement in this aspect with respect to the original title, the characters as well as the robots maintain the same graphic style but with a quite remarkable improvement, besides that it also maintains that 90s anime style so characteristic and that is something that I personally like a lot.

Being a fighting game increases the number of meccas we can choose and each of them has a unique design and quite original, with a color palette quite striking and are a set of movements and animations quite varied that visually makes the fights look really spectacular and dynamic. The pilots' designs are also very varied and characteristic of the anime of the 90s, with exaggerated and striking clothing. Similarly Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness has a lot of visual effects such as explosions, lightning, shooting, among others, that give a higher level of visual and showiness.

The scenarios are better designed than their original title, they are noticed with a higher level of detail and drawing, being these scenarios quite varied since we will fight in scenarios that recreate very well places like: cities, towns, forests, stadiums or even it is outer space. In fact these scenarios are so well designed that we could take any of these and place them as wallpaper for our computers.

On Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness we repeat once again the excellent quality in its soundtrack as well as in Armored Warriors, and of course, in a videogame where we control giant robots obviously the best music style that would fit is rock and metal, so once again, in this videogame as well as in its main title, we are going to find a great set of melodies of the rock and metal genre, with many guitar riffs and music totally that get us into the action and the frenetic and destructive fights. Although I must say that in comparison with Armored Warriors, the musical set of Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness is a little more standard and basic, but in the same way it doesn't stop being good enough.

After Capcom made one of the best beat'em up in terms of graphics, style and design, which is Armored Warriors, decided to take all those characteristic and well defined designs to make a totally different title from their main franchise. The reasons for this change can be several, but perhaps the most logical is that at that time the beat'em up were losing strength in the market and fighting video games were what was fashionable, so they took an excellent idea and was to create a fighting title in the same universe of one of their best "me against the neighborhood".

Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness is a conventional fighting game, as it maintains all the main features of this type of games, fighting in 1vs1, against the AI or against a friend. The only main feature is that our characters are giant robots or also known as meccas, these robots are going to fight to the death, being able to use a large amount of weapons arsenals, from giant guns, cannons, flame throwers, in short, all kinds of weapons that can cause the most damage and destruction to our enemy.

In addition, these characters also have a great set of movements and quite striking attack combos, so that each fight is a frantic feast of explosions and blows. Despite the fact that, as I've already said several times, I personally don't like fighting games very much, Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness was quite fun to play, as well as having very easy to learn controls.

<i>  Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness is a fairly conventional fighting game, but due to its masterful graphic style it stands out far above other titles in its genre. The truth is that it's a title that surprised me a lot, since I had a lot of fun playing it and using every type of robot available, as well as every pilot. It's a very complete fighting game, with frantic gameplay, a decent sound aspect, but above all with a much higher graphic level. </i>
