Do you support Free Speech?
I know you may like to think you do, but the only way to support free speech is to seek out speech that makes you emotionally irrational and accepting that it is ok for those ideas to exist.

Want to bet that I can find some form of speech that you don't support?
In fact, you would likely advocate for the use of force to cause those speaking it to be forced to stop.

If you don't agree, you haven't thought about it long enough.

What things is it ok for you to use violence on those that disagree?

That there is a really hard line to draw.
It is soooo easy to speak nicely... but the undertones are "this town ain't big enough for the both of us".

I have never found any way of explaining 100%, free speech.
Take the case of yelling "fire" in a theater.

The only piece i have worked out is a hierarchy.

In the US basically you can say anything but a direct threat or intentionally saying things that create a stampede or riot. You can yell "fire" in a theater if it is on fire or if it is part of the show or if you do it and no one stampedes out. If you actually cause a stampede or riot then that's a crime. If you don't it is not.

I draw the line at physical violence, if someone moves towards me in an assaultive manner I reserve the right to forestall their blow, but as long as it's just wind blowing out of them, I feel sorry for them,...

Nobody cares about the two of us, and we are gonna fight over which of us is still not going to be cared about?

Before haggling about "free speech", perhaps we should define "speech" a little better.

If we see the word "speech" in the context of having the right to express your thoughts on any subject matter as being an utterance of whatever you can get over your lips whenever and wherever you choose to utter it, are we serving the purpose of this right?

Is deliberately uttering a false alarm a right everyone should have?

Is deliberately and knowingly uttering false and misleading information a right anyone should have?

Allowing everyone the right to express their thoughts, whether right or wrong is obviously a healthy rule. Most false perceptions can be rectified over time and the right to express one's perceptions, right or wrong, is the perfect starting point for that.

Perhaps where "free speech" starts undermining the purpose of freedom of expression is a sensible dividing line to look at.

IMHO violently quelling the harmful effect of deliberately harmful utterances, whether directly or by law, is perfectly in order \- on condition that you can prove the evil intent.

Opinions on exercising it will vary.
Now the question is why you think you get to exercise control over the free will of another?
Who died and made you god?

That said, i think if me or mine was harmed i would react reasonably, i hope.
However, creating an entire public structure to answer these question whether you want an answer or not will not be high on my to do list.
If i wasnt involved, it was none of my business, and me butting in wont help, imo.

I think we are back to the question of creating a public structure to force its will on everybody.
If steem is a scam, and i am substantially harmed by the fraud of others, i prefer to keep my options open rather than literally beg a worshiper of mars to answer my prayers and issue an order in my favor.
I prefer the wisdom of the crowd to equitably resolve the misbehavior of others.
Is it infallible? Nothing we devise will be.
Do you prefer to be in charge of you, or to allow what has been allowed to grow around us?
I prefer to be free, and have seen freedom in action.
There is far less crime in mexico than in the states because when somebody screams the neighbors grab their machetes and run that way.
In the united snakes we are trained into doing the opposite, and we pay a price in increased crime numbers.

So, the responsible adults should take back their right to decide for themselves from the rules imposed by statists?

To be clear, i think stinc should be free to commit as much fraud as they please, provided the victims are also free to react as they see fit.

If it was up to me i would load into helicopters the majority of the people that formed the administrations from Johnson to obummer and drop them on the streets of hanoi, or mosul, and let the victims have their say on how all that was handled, and i think the lack of this possibility is what has gotten us into this mess.

To my mind evil is where an evildoer deliberately diminishes the quality of life of others, whether to the benefit of the evildoer or not and evil should be made to nought wherever possible, which poses the topical question: where is the evil of punishment due? Educating the evildoer may in the end add to the quality of life of the evildoer too, but what if harsh punishment is the only language the evildoer understands? That is up to a jury of twelve to decide, I guess.
