Right this minute the largest problems of steem could be resolved with some simple behavior changes of us all.

I use steemauto.com to keep a list of must read authors.
They get content neutral votes, every time they post.
I read nearly every one of them, too.
They are on my must read list.

However, the highest they can get is 20%.
My autovoter only votes a very select, 3 or 4 low volume authors, few above my 2stu cut off.

### If you are autovoting someone that routinely tops the charts, lower your percentage, eh?

But that isn't the only behavior we need to establish as norms in the culture we call steemizens.

Which, if you hadn't noticed is what we are doing here.
We are establishing the norms of behavior that we tolerate and/or are accepting of.

No drunken rants about chat sexting with fame whores to be one yourself.
### No organite.
## No self whatever the hell that what was that JB did.
#### No freshly released convicts promising rings to folks, but never delivering.
(All hail, the unnamed one for getting that fixed, while being referred to as the bad whale.)

#### No, dear reader, that isn't the only behavior that the code won't change for us.

We have to determine what the hive mind wants to reward.
Gonna be some difference of opinions there, but it is the game we are playing.

The way to give the newbs a reason to be here is to vote those that are real with us.
Those folks that come here and share their lives, there are many, that don't get 2stu on a post, are our target demographic.

We need to not vote on posts above a certain pay out.
That payout will vary with each voter.

Me? I don't manually vote posts with more than 2stu.
I was only voting those with less than 1, but hf21 put the kibosh on comment voting where I was giving .02stu votes to every commenter.
Now when I vote a comment, it is a 100% vote so that it doesn't round down to dust.
That limits the number of votes I can give in any one day.





This is a community effort.
It fails if a big chunk of us don't stop giving everything to the golden children.
We will never build an audience for our middle class.

We are caught in a conundrum.
Everybody wants the whales happy and buying.
Everybody wants a whale to autovote them.
Everybody cheers the power that they have to make the lives of others a little richer.

## But,....

# When a whale votes, every other vote loses value.

Pull a string here, the tangled mess moves over there.
Lots of moving parts in steem.

What won't change is the numbers put up by the whale experiment under the n2.
Most of you were not here for that.
Most of you don't know what a mix of emotions the n2 gave us.

The experiment proved one thing, though.
And that is if everybody limited their take from the pool to 500mv, we would have no problem swamping the sign up process.
The newbs will be very happy.

Can I guarantee that that will translate into more buying?
No.

Can I guarantee that that will drive up the price?
No.

Can I guarantee that everybody else on the platform will be getting even more than they are right now?
Yes.

Do you think that doubling everybody's vote value will make for some happy steemizens?
I do.

Will a more attractive reward payout bring in more attention?
It is likely.

Will the network effect of more people playing steem make the coin more attractive?
Probably.

Is what we are currently doing doing what we want it to do?
Mmm, not really, but maybe?

These are all questions we need to ask ourselves.
Do I want to give a 10stu post .07stu more?
Or, do I want to retain a newb that never gets more than 2stu?
Then, we need to make another move to improve steem, yet again.

I don't think we will ever have a pool big enough to handle every blogger on the interwebz, but we don't have to monopolize to have a growing concern.

What we have now will, at the very least, cause us to retain the golden children.
But, if you do the math, as we get more of those, we will get less of everybody else.
Who sticks around to watch the chads and stacies?
Not real people.
