I was talking with Stacie D this morning about the state of my vlogs. Where did the start, why did they start, and what I hope to get from them. Over the years I have talked about many different things, and even ruffled a few feathers. I have gotten caught up in the monetary benefits versus the emotional benefits. I hope to redirect myself, and bring some provoking and encouraging thoughts. 


Yesterday we drove a good twenty miles north of where we are to pick up some wood mulch. We got four big totes full of mulch, and the guy said we could take as much as we wanted. So to get to the mulch I had to back the van into a small drive way, and got it just far enough back to be out of the road. When we finished getting everything loaded, a car drove by and I waved and smiled like I always do. They hit their brakes and backed up the hill like I just swore at their grandma.


It turns out that the guy was convinced that he knew me and that we had met before. It turned into an hour long conversation that covered a whole lot of topics. From Jesus, Torah, government, homesteading etc. It was a great conversation. One thing I got from it was a feeling of fear. It wasn't even that I had to feel it, he told me.


I have been saying it for a while now that I believe there is a spiritual battle happening right now, and there are dark spirits of fear and anger that are being poured out into the word. It has people acting, or saying, and generally being different than they would any other time. 


When we got all done with the chores and work yesterday, I sat on the back porch and just took in the sunshine. I found myself praying that YHWH would reveal Himself to me, and that I could make some sense of what was going on. No crap, it was two seconds later I look up and see a couple of giant birds soaring above the trees. I could see the feathers at the tip of their wings fluttering in the wind. I instantly put it together.


Matthew 6:26


 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?




That made perfect sense to me. As the spirits of fear and anger are being poured out, people are scared. People are scared of what they might lost, who they might lose, when they might lose....and keep thinking about that over and over.


For years I have thought about this exact verse, and maybe it plays a big part in why I am a minimalist nomad. Every step of the way, my God has taken care of me. Not that I intentionally do things to push the limits of His provision, but in my everyday life. 


I think we can combat this time by taking a minute to remember that we will be ok. No matter what happens....we are ok. It is just about our mindset toward the outcome. If we can change our perspective, we may not be able to change the outcome, but we can atleast not be controlled by fear and anger!
