Over The Edge (And into the unknown)

I wrote this piece today as I mulled over a new opportunity that I've been excited about over the past couple of weeks. It's a business venture. Something of promise for me. 

My hope is to one day be able to finally disembark from a career path that's leading me down the road of life's disappointment. A place of regret and sorrow. I don't want to be an old man that is filled with sadness and regret. One that reminisces about what they could have been or should have done. *It scares the hell out of me.*

Time is ticking, of course. *Shit, or get off the pot! Do or do not!*

# OVER THE EDGE

My toes hang over the edge
The cliff is tall and frightful
Peering over into the unknown
Fills my belly with fear and dread
What if life becomes worse
Or things go horribly wrong
The worries toss violently in my head

Behind me
Is safety
The comfort of what I've always known
It's familiar
With sharp jagged edges
That cut at my heart strings
In warm embrace
Despite the mixed feelings
About my happy yet awful days
I am determined to leave behind this usual place

Before me
Is opportunity
The chance to finally break free
From conceding to boredom
Accepting less than I can be
We all deserve to be the best versions of ourselves
No less or else
We cheat the only person that matters
The one we have to live with in regret of missed opportunity
It's time to step over the edge
And accept the result
Trusting in myself
And watching happiness catapult
