Nanyang Girls’ High is a popular school in Singapore for high achievers.

Almost all students would enter the school with flying colours with good PSLE results in Primary 6.

After working hard to get into the school, most students had to continue to work hard to enable themselves to continue to do well academically.

Professor Michael Chee suggested the school to start later as the students were obviously not having enough sleep.

He shared that research results had shown that teens perform better when they get enough sleep.

This led to a major adjustment to the timetabling and other school activities.

Teachers and students had noticed the positive impact in learning and coping with school activities.

With the positive outcomes, there are more secondary schools and primary schools decided to start school later to enable proper rest for their students.
