Yuri died and the main protagonist had to spend the whole weekend with her rotting corpse. After that, when Natsuki arrive at school she vomit after seeing what laying on the ground in front of the main protagonist. Shortly after, Monika arrive too and revealed everything.

I was right. It was all Monika's doing. You probably thinking how could I not realize it sooner when the hints were popping everywhere in the game. Well, maybe because I didn't want to believe Monika was the culprit, but yes I had a growing little suspicion on her before I truly realize it.

In the end, whoever's route the player take they will end up dead or deleted from the game and Monika revealed that she's the one behind everything. Now everything is dead but Monika, trapping herself and the player in a room where time doesn't flow and she finally got what she wanted, to spend time with the player... forever.

At first, Monika was the one I wanted to get close to but it turned out she's not one of the options. And when she finally show her true self clearly in front of the player, I was a bit pissed. She even told that she's the one who make the girls to be in those mentally unhealthy states--Sayori's depression, and Yuri's self-harming and obsessive nature, which is horrible thing to do. If only I knew that it's possible to save them all by load game in act 1.

Behind Monika's Actions

All of this mess is because she is jealous that the main protagonist... no, the player, spend time and will always spend time with the other girls instead of her, the game decided she cannot have that too.

"The whole time, I barely even got to talk to you. Are all the other girls just programmed to end up confessing to you while I watch from the sidelines? What kind of cruel game is this?"

Well... sh*t. I feel bad for Monika after I heard that (Please don't beat me up). That's friendzone on a different level. It make it sounded like the evil one is the developer. And it's not just jealousy, but also...

"It's the pain of knowing how alone I really am in this world. In this game. Knowing my friends don't even have free will... And, worst of all, knowing what's really out there, in your world, forever out of my reach."

Okay, I didn't expect this from a horror game disguised with cheerful theme and cutesy anime girls. It may be only a static image of a person saying voiceless dialogue, but that feel train really hit me hard in the heart. She even notice when the game is closed, it feels like being deleted from existence through painful slow process, she told the player.

The Creepy-ly Sad End of the Club

The game will only proceed if the player delete Monika from the game character file. I had no choice, so I did. Screaming, hurting, asking for help, and with last futile effort to save herself from being deleted, Monika tried to hate the player, but failed in that too. So she deletes herself and reset the game without her in it because she wanted the player to be happy.

So the game started from the beginning again for the fourth time, with Sayori became the president of Literature Club. This is a short game that you could finish in about 4 - 5 hours (it was 8 hours for me), but when I saw Sayori again there were some kind of "thank goodness" feeling as if it's been very long time since the last time I saw her.

I noticed that the three girls character files were restored in the folder. Knowing that this game have so much secrets to see, I tried to restore Monika's character file as well. There were only a message from her telling that She didn't want to come back and, "Stop playing with my heart.".

"I see in act 4 there were no creepy horror glitches, so this is the final act." I thought to myself. Not even a day in the game and a minute in real time after I said that, it started again. At the end of the club's meeting, once again the cheerful soundtrack suddenly stopped. Sayori told how excited she is for her new club and how grateful she is that the player joined Literature Club, and I mean the player. Also, she thank the player for getting rid of Monika.

Turns out, whoever become the president of Literature Club will be self aware. And now what Sayori wanted is the same as Monika, to spend time with the player... f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Suddenly, unexpectedly, Monika came back only to put an end to this horrible fate scripted to all of them. She somehow can still mess with the game's script and she's doing it for the last time, sacrificing the game and delete it so the player won't stuck in the game forever and that because she doesn't want her friends to feel the same as her.

Her last message looked really sad to me for some reason. Maybe because I hate a goodbye. If that's how they end,
they better off died than live as nothingness in the game's scrambled code. Well, their fate isn't so clear, but they are grateful.

Tired? Bored? That's how I felt at the first hour of playing this game, well that's what I wanted to tell you after all. But I'm so glad I was interested in playing this game. It took me like three articles, two friends convincing to play, half an hour staring at the "horror" tag on the Steam page, and a jar of cookies. And I ended up liking this game.

For a free game, this game is good and have so much to see. If you haven't play it, I assure you the story is way better than what I wrote. I'm looking forward to see what Team Salvato have on next release.

Did you actually read the whole three posts and reached this far? If you did, thanks a lot for your infinite amount of patience. I really appreciate it. Don't worry, this series ends here.
