Are you a travel Bug on a budget. Well have I got the neatest idea for you. Check this website out. Trusted House Sitter.com. Here is the concept. You go on to this website, and you find a location that you would like to travel to. Then you see if there is any requirement for a house sitter at your destination. You create a profile of who you are and then contact the people who are seeking a house sitter. You build up your ratings with each house that you sit, so you become a Trusted House Sitter. I would suggest, going and sitting some houses in your hometown first to start your rating and get some reviews under your belt first. Happy Trails 
But WAIT.....DO YOU LOVE ANIMALS?  Well hey they have Pet Sitter requirements as well. Check out Both House and Pet sitter websites. I mean really, how hard is it to stay for free in someones home, take their dog for a walk and give it a little snuggle and some food and water, all while you are taking in the sites of some foreign destination, and you get to stay for FREE. Who does not love free? This raises the bar to how often you can travel and see this great big beautiful planet that we live on.

I've looked into this but it seemed like it would be an effort to get it going when I've already got a history with Couchsurfing that has taken years to get a profile with a good history background as well as HelpX.org.
 
However, I am on the road, currently in Mexico City, backpacking through Latin America with a very, very limited budget and am finding that my options could be more varied. Your post compels me to rethink my previous ideas.

I'm happy to have the suggestion of your favorite site. I'll go there first. Very grateful for your insight.
