I havent seen so great list of wath to do so far here insite, so i actuly would bokmark this site. And share it on facebook an with friends.
We need more kinds of this peaple like you, to suksess in steemit comunity. I like your advice, and hope for more post like this in future.

I had to upvote this because you're laying out some reasonable guidelines to looking at Steemit contributions. 

I'm all for the Steemian who personally wants to just lurk and vote, if that's how they conduct themselves on social media. I didn't even have an account on Reddit so I couldn't vote, I'd just read articles and moved on. 

But for the Steemian who wants to contribute content, this is great advice and very important to consider

Great thread, the tips for posting are definitely the best points, in particulat my favorite three are

I think these are things people are slowly realizing when they are using the platform that it isnt an easy get rich quick scheme, but if you put time and effort in as much as you would a hobby it can greatly pay off.

As a newbie to Steemit (still learning the ropes), I appreciate this post. I believe I have quality content to provide, but the desire to get noticed sometimes forces those bad habits you referred to (such as posting quantity over quality).

Hard work is not an accurate description. Rather, try smart work.

I love this! I feel like the spam on Steemit is rapidly growing, I feel like more original articles that aren't taken from google are getting less attention! I'm glad this was seen.

My addition to the above is that along with

*--actually spend time reading other people’s posts and comments*

...we should not "overspend" / get tired / exhausted with this. The quality of the contributions even in comment interaction, let alone posting an article, can fall due to being overworked/tired/sleepy, etc. Patience is also diminished and that makes for less frictionless interaction.

Well, I can't <em>not</em> upvote a Thomas S. Monson quote.

You'd think, wouldn't you? But check out my blog. There's reams upon reams of amazing stuff in there. Original fiction, informative articles, community focused stuff. I have made just under $100 in total and that's from a few posts that got $10-$30 each. The rest made nothing, or less than a dollar. 

If you look at the posts that rake in the big bucks on the front page, they aren't examples of hard work. They are examples of having been born attractive and with two X chromosomes, whales colluding with other whales, and metacontent about Steemit itself that happens to get lucky.

I respect your views and advice and have taken the time to step back and read the advice by many of the whales. I will only do this on my #introduceyourself post, but will you consider reading and upvoting it if you believe it adds value? Hopefully this has a chance to reach you. Is this the reason for the absolute spamfest today? Just made a little rant/post as I was trying to engage people but really just hit walls. People posting something they don't care about, in hopes of getting a few votes maybe? Just saw a good post and author comments, made me happy
