Hello again everyone, I am welcoming you to my second post on the Steem Crypto Challenge : Bitcoin Is Booming - What About Your Favorite Coin? and in this post I will be writing about another favorite coin of mine. Do not forget that i wrote in my previous post that in the blockchain world with over 4000 coins/tokens, it will be very difficult to have only one favorite coin and as I write each day about my favorite cryptocurrency, I will be picking them one after the other. In the Post, I will be talking about one of my favorite coin which is EOS, the native coin for the EOS.IO ecosystem.

### <center>EOS Blockchain</center>
Pronounced E-OS, it is known for different names like the powerful infrastructure for decentralized applications, the next generation blockchain, the Ethereum killer, and so on, is a decentralized platform designed to support decentralized applications (DApps) as well as simplify the programming and the integration of smart contracts on its blockchain. The aim of EOS is to solve the problem of slow and expensive transaction cost on the blockchain while handling smart contract as well as be able to allow both private and public business build dapps on its blockchain with ease, so  in other to solve those problems it had to be able to process millions of transactions per second (speed), flexible for both private and public blockchain network, and scalable.

The EOS blockchain is built on the EOS.IO decentralized operating system and uses the Delegated Proof of Stake consensus model to validate blocks where the top 21 nodes in the blockchain verify transactions. With the EOS blockchain, EOS holders can vote up to 30 block producers (BPs) and the accounts with votes that put them between 1 and 21 are the one to continually confirm blocks. If one of the BPs aren't doing well, they can be voted out by token users.

### <center>EOS TOKEN</center>
EOS began in 2017 with its ICO which officially started on June 26, 2017 and lasted for a year until June 27, 2018. It was hosted on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token. Its ICO price was $0.990 and a total of $4,196,874,404 was raised. Currently, EOS is the 13th most valuable coin on coinmarketcap.com.

With a circulating supply of 938,078,226 EOS, a total supply of 1,024,778,237 EOS, 24 hours volume of $5,181,838,567 and a market capitalization of $3,266,676,902, EOS is currently traded at $3.48 as at the time of writing. On April 29, 2018, EOS hit its all time high of $22.89. In 24 hours, EOS has lost 4.10% valued at $-0.147087.

### <center>Why EOS is one of my favorite?</center>
The EOS blockchain uses the delegated proof of stake consensus model which gives the power to decide block producers in the hands of the community, thereby enhancing community governance. The Blockchain is built for both public and private use cases, so businesses and individuals can enjoy the EOS blockchain. The speed of DPOS makes the EOS blockchain fast and scalable. It has a lot of Dapps which makes up the EOS ecosystem, these Dapps includes, games like Prospectors, Dice, BigGame, EOS Knights, Brick Battle and so on.

On EOS, holders can stake their EOS coins or lend it out in the REX and get benefit as well as a returns up to 0.6% within 7 days.

Free transaction once account holder stakes EOS coin as CPU and net, Easy for developers to create new dapps on its blockchain as well as ease for other project to create a fork from EOS.IO. EOS is ICO friendly as projects can raise funds on EOS while selling their tokens during their initial coin offering, also coins can list easily as there are several decentralized exchange which helps trade EOS tokens, exchanges such as NEWDEX, WhaleEX, and so on.

### <center>Final Thoughts</center>

In the last 7 days, EOS has seen an increase in price from $2.64 on the 19th of November 2020 to $3.44 as at the close of the day on the 25th of November 2020. With EOS improving its number of Dapps, it is visible that the value of its coin will be affected as well. EOS might hit $11 before the end of the year if the run continues, also i do not plan to let go of my EOS anytime soon.
