This is the 9th installment of my girlfriends poetry from her 1999 book Emotions ... from the Heart.

Out of curiosity I checked to see if Evelyn's book could be found online. Amazingly it is but I almost fell off my chair when I saw what one place was asking for a used copy of the book. The seller was on Amazon and was asking $33! I couldn't believe and neither could Evelyn when I told her. Considering we sell her book for 1/3 that amount in new condition. We wonder if any have been sold on Amazon though we do sometime list her book on Amazon but I don't think we ever sold any. Oh well, we hope you enjoy this poem.

I see an image in the mirror

All the colors of my face

The tear-stained eyes

That cry out into space

The tears that fall

Are like a summer's rain

The ache in my heart

That has been there since the start

Only I was too blind to see

It was I who was always pleading

It was I who pushed and pulled

It was I who wanted your love

Only now I see that image was a fool

The colors will fade

As the autumn sets in

Soon the colors of my face will match

The coming of the first snow

As the tears dry up

Time will go on

The hurt will mend

And color will return again.
