Goodwill Outlet Income Experiment - Thrifting, Picking, & Finding Profit Day 3

<h3>Adventures in thrifting income from the pay per pound Goodwill - Day 3.</h3>

Well, the Outlet was A LOT less crowded today. That got me thinking, was everything good already gone?

Nope! Without all those other people I guess more stuff was left behind as well as giving me more room to rummage around the bins. 

It actually came out to be the most successful thrift yet - check it out!

Today is March 20th and it is Day 3. Let's see what I found this Tuesday.

I'm keeping three things today. A LED lightbulb, a 5/16th socket, and some sandpaper. Always useful stuff for my house and workbench.

First up was a pair of Women's Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes. These things are great, I always sell them. Once I even got a pair in HORRIBLE condition for $1 and still sold them for $17. These are much better and only cost me 90 cents! This will be a good profit, and summer is just around the corner so I won't have to wait long.

Next up is some random part I found at the bottom of the electronics section. It was new in box with the instructions. Sometimes these things are sleepers, so I checked it out. Not too bad, sells for around $24 on eBay. It is some sort of Rapid Start Ballast device.

I found a Words With Friends boardgame - I didn't even know they made that. Anyways, I took the tiles just like I would if I found a Scrabble. Those letter tiles are used in all sorts of crafts and other projects. You can get about 10 cents per tile in bulk. These seem to go for a little less than that on eBay.

I've sold plenty of CD/DVD labels before. Quick and easy stuff. There were a few packages of them - all opened. So I consolidated them into one packet each.

Anyone ever use a Magic Bullet blender? I haven't, but I have sold them before. I found the motor base in a bin on one side of the store and the cup on the other side. I passed the motor base because I couldn't test it without a cup. But when I did find the cup I picked it up and went back over to grab the motor for testing. Worked great! 

I love when things work out like that.

Check out this cool vintage oil can opener and spout! I couldn't let this get thrown away, it's from back when Sears was in its prime. If this doesn't sell, I don't mind throwing it in my tool box.

I also found this Aircast. I have sold one before without the accessories I found today, so this should be an even better sell.

Now we come to the last and BEST find of the day. Just looking at it you wouldn't think so, but trust me - this is awesome! 

A 'Good Feet' arch support. Model 28 'Relaxer' in medium flexibility. This had the receipt in the box. Do you know what it cost them when it was new? $299.95 + tax! Hole-E-Shite. Some people are crazy.

They still go for good money used on eBay. This is the type of thing I want to find every time at the Goodwill Outlet. Small, lightweight, and sells for good money.

The rapid start ballast device is the thing under the cover in a two 4' bulb fluorescent light.  It is what makes the voltage so they will arc across the mercury vapor in the bulbs.

When do you expect to make your first sale? Have you calculated a rough estimate of the percentage / fraction of the stuff you need to sell to make back your own investment?

Also, I'm wondering if this is a thing you enjoy doing. Because personally I would just get annoyed trying to sell so much used stuff. It can't be that profitable, that you would want to do it gripping your teeth :D

That's the beauty of the Goodwill Outlet, things are so cheap. Basically, if I sell those Good Feet things I am almost back to even. That leaves most of the rest as potential profit.

Where all are you selling your items?

I used to do something similar before eBay fees increased so much. If you have an eye for finding things, it's definitely a good way to earn side income. I've also purchased items from the Facebook marketplace and sold them on eBay.

You inspired me to go to my Goodwill yesterday all  I found was new with tag items, and used board games for 50% of new retail prices and 75% of the store was women's clothing (if its priced like mens, again 50% + of retail )

Have you had any luck selling rubber stamps? That is about the only thing I saw that might be worth a shot, but I have never sold any before.

Try mens dress shoes, the better brands in good condition. 

But yeah, Goodwill has increased prices to a point where it has become ridiculous. I think they jacked up the prices and if it sells, great. Otherwise they now have a 50% off everything sale about once per month on a Saturday. 

I barely go to their stores now. It does mean that more overpriced things dont sell and get sent to the outlets. 

Its all independent thrift stores and the Outlet for me now.

As for rubber stamps, I haven't purchased any. If it is a good bundle for cheap, it seems like it would sell.

I came to thank you for your delegation today, but I got distracted by your contest! Thank you for doing both. 

I am so grateful for your support in the delegation. I think you already know I recommend leasing delegated sp to minnows all the time to get themselves up to 500 sp.

I'm my case, I am trying to keep a good voting power even thought I am powering down (in dire need of cash) and one person recently pulled my delegations and those of other people for whatever reason they had. I'm hoping it is nothing personal, but the person is not active here, so I will never know for sure.  

I am so grateful to you for helping me - and I'm sure others along the way.

As to this post - good on you to recycle this way. I tried this strategy for a time and did not do well at all. I am not a shopper in the first place and then lost money on what I did buy and re-sell! 

As always - I continue to try to help others lose weight and kick obesity to the curb like I did. Regardless of the financial impact on my life - I know it is the right thing for me to do. your support means the world to me.
