<p>Best know as Acrylic, Plexiglas or Perspex, PMMA was discovered by Rowland Hill and John Crawford in the early 1930's at Imperial Chemical Industries in England. &nbsp;It is made in a process called Polymerization where hydrocarbon fuels are combined with catalyst to produce plastic and it's 100% recyclable. &nbsp;</p>

<p>It is a transparent thermoplastic homopolymer used in stead of glass because of the clarity. &nbsp;It is clearer than glass and even if it's cut/made thicker, it does not prevent visibility and stays clear.</p>

<p>The most interesting use of PMMA is that it is used by Aquariums as it is strong enough to hold all the water and animals inside, without the risk of breaking.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>&nbsp;In fact, the largest single window in the world, an observation window at California's Monterrey Bay Aquarium, is made of one big piece of PMMA which is 54 feet long, 18 feet high, and 13 inches thick (16.6 m long, 5.5 m high, and 33 cm thick).&nbsp;</blockquote>
