Along with a monotonous job, I work as a tutor as well and teach two children, one is in grade 9 and the other in 6. The elder one isn’t much interested in studies and being a child of a billionaire father, he has some other plans like starting a large business with the help of his father which is actually a good thing. Don’t know why but today while I was teaching, he stopped me in the middle of the lecture and asked

Sir, can you give me a million dollar idea? I don’t want to read these shitty books and want to launch a startup asap. Give me some ideas

Being a teacher, it’s always a very difficult situation, you have to answer your student’s question keeping in mind that one day this child will be of my age and he would be making fun of me if I do something stupid today. So I wanted to share how I handled this situation, it’s for both parents and young Steemians who want to do something else other than a 9-5 job.

This Is How I Started!

Do you know what Silicon Valley is? According to Google:

Silicon Valley, in the southern San Francisco Bay Area of California, is home to many start-up and global technology companies. Apple, Facebook and Google are among the most prominent.

Many new startups with some pretty good investment register every year but most of them fail, do you know why?Let me explain the "Why" thing!

My First Example

https://s18.postimg.org/k0r54ywo9/mark.jpg

Studying at Harvard University, a young boy along with his friends came up with an idea of designing a website "Harvard Connection". The main objective of this website was to use information from Harvard's student networks in order to create a dating site for the Harvard elite, providing a solution without charging anything. In no time this website became the largest social network on this planet, Facebook!

My Question

Did Mark and his friends initially had any monetory objectives from this project? Like to earn a lot of money and make it as a money making machine?

My Second Example

https://s18.postimg.org/wgnuy6na1/jack.jpg

A person sitting in Seattle with his friend while surfing the internet found that Yahoo didn't give any results when searched "Wine in China" and this man then decided to make a website that can solve this problem. Whenever a person in China searches for wine, he should get the results and we all know who that person was, the owner of Ali Baba!

My Question (Same)

Did Jack Ma initially had any monetory objectives from this project? Like to earn a lot of money and make it as a money making machine?

Disclaimer!

You can continue reading this post if your answer is "No"!

Providing solution to a common problem is itself a millionaire idea (Depends how you implement it). When you search "Million Dollar Idea" on Google , you get results like this:

https://s18.postimg.org/54slww0jt/million.png

Do you think the authors of these articles are millionaire? Or have they implemented these same ideas in their lives to become a millionaire? We all know the answer!

Long story short, solving a common problem is itself a "Million Dollar" idea, see around what's missing and how you can fill the space with your product/service. Unfortunately, this is not taught in schools/colleges, they are busy in making slaves for a 9- 5 job. This is something what parents should be seeding in their children minds, coach them how to use their individual abilities to benefit the society as a whole!

Though we can't ignore the monetary part, people have to meet their both ends but just thinking about earning money in the planning phase will make your startup just like many in Silicon Valley! At the same time, if you're able to provide a solution to a problem then congratulations, you got a "Million Dollar" idea, work on it and you'll be rewarded for sure!

That was my answer, if anyone wants me to share anything I missed, do let me know in the comment section and I'll let the child know!

Thanks!
