# Purple Wild Ochid

I took this photograph of a wild orchid in the RHS Rosemoor Gardens in Tavistock, Devon.

They were growing in an uncultivated grassy meadow area.

Meadows flowers are some of my favourites but, sadly, they don't last long, even more so this year due to the long, hot summer we're having.

I've been surprised at home many wild orchids there are these days @lynncoyle1, although this one isn't really wild, since the meadow was purposely planted. &#128513;

We have many more "meadows" appearing in the city too as the council plants them in roadside verges and the islands between traffic lanes. They're so colourful and such a great thing to look at whilst waiting in traffic. &#128522;

Thank you @violetmed. This was a sort of artificial meadow in the middle of a big traditional garden.

It was quite a large space though. it's interesting how these wild flower meadows seem to have become very fashionable in the last few years. i'm very happy about that! &#128513;

Our local council is creating them in quite small spaces within the city. Lovely! &#128522;
