Making a paper mache with my little brother for his Creative and cultural art project.
Good morning steemits. I'll say for now I'm the only artist in the family. My two uncles too are really good with art but they've stopped making art a long time ago and they are into other things professionally. So anytime my little brother have an art project, he's lucky I'm there to help and guide him and through that he's able to learn more. 


Two days ago around 5pm he told me he had an art project, paper mache and he has to submit today. Now it was already getting late and paper mache needs at least a day and half to be fulling dried considering we'll be using locally made starch for it. 


As tired as I was at that time I had to gather all the newspaper I could find in the house. As we both set out for the project. Mercy the youngest also helped us. By the time we enter the project fully, it was already dark and we had to use a flashlight to complete the work. Below is a picture of the finished work when its fully dried.

#### Materials used

* Newspaper
* Starch
* Plate
* Big spoon
* Cup




#### Process


* We cut the paper into small pieces with scissors.

* We transferred the all the small pieces into a bucket.

* We added enough water to the paper pieces in order for it to be soaked very well for easy pounding.

* After like 20 mins when its fully soaked, we transfer it into a big wooden mortar and pound it till its soft. I and my little brother took turns doing this.

* We pound until it looks like the picture below.

* Next thing we did was starch preparation. I used the custard preparation method to make the starch. Its a hot water starch. I disolved the stach in a small cold water. Then I boiled water and into the boiling water i added the dissolved starch and stir till it becomes thick.

* We poured the starch into the mashed paper as seem below.

* Then we mixed the paper with the starch.

* Then we rubbed the back of the materials ( plate, cup and spoon) we wanted to use with Oil and we started placing the starchy paper to its back.

* When we finish making them, we spread them outside but it was already dark so early the next day i sprspread it outsode for it to be sun dried.

* When the back is dried i removed the materials (plates, cuo and spoon) from the paper mache and allow the inside to dry.
