We all do dumb things - I am not an exception.  I have on many occasions in my life made some sort of grand well-thought-out plan and then for whatever reason the entire thing just falls apart.  It all began with an innocent enough mistake.  

I booked my flight on the wrong day.  I had wanted my last day in town to be a super-bowl party.  I had it all worked out, watch the superbowl on Sunday, have a recovery day in the middle and then get my flight the day after.  

Sunday - break day, flight Tuesday right?  Easy yeah?

Unfortunately I ended up, despite living here for over a decade, forgetting that for half of the day we are actually a day AHEAD of the United States.  Therefore, the Super Bowl was actually broadcast on **Monday**

I wasn't gonna miss the Superbowl so I decided to alter my plan.

I woke up at 6 am and drove to my favorite sports bar called Chilling Bar.  They had just gotten some new screens earlier that day and an upgraded sound system, so I knew i was in for a treat.

So I had a coffee and then got straight on the beers.  It isn't the Superbowl without beers so I reckon I had my first one at 7am.  My improvised plan was to watch the game and then go straight home, spend the rest of the day drinking water and then get plenty of sleep for me 8am flight the next day.  I should have know that wasn't gonna happen.

Immediately after the game some friends were like "lets go to the beach and have just a couple more... come on!  it's your last day!"

A couple of beers turned into 4 and now it is afternoon and I put my food down and told these guys that I have to go.  on my way home a few other people contacted me and said they wanted to take me out to dinner because "it's my last day!"  

So now i am in a mexican restaurant and of course you have to have cerveza with Mexican food.   At this point it is 7 or 8 pm and I have been drinking beer for 13 hours.  That's when you reach the "well it doesn't f**cking matter at this point, I'll just power through and we went to a reggae bar where one of my favorite bands just happened to be playing.  It would be a sin to not drink beers while my favorite band is playing?  Right?  So the next thing I know it is midnight and I have been drinking for 17 hours.  I got a taxi home after telling everyone THAT's IT!  no more!  I knew my 5am alarm was going to just be a horrible situation and my goodness was it ever.

Flying sucks anyway, but flying with a what is bound to be around a 30 beer hangover and no sleep really really sucks.  The friend who drove me to the airport gave me some mints stating that I smelled like a brewery.  

Despite the fact that I was only on planes for about 2.5 hour, there was also a 4 hour layover in the middle.   I don't think I have ever felt as bad as I did today.  I also didn't have anything warm on and they were apparently testing the upper limits of the air conditioners that day because it was freezing.  I guess it is better than hot.  

I finally made it.  I didn't think this day was going to end.  I had dinner, no booze at all, and it will soon be 8pm.  Im just gonna go to sleep !
