Pewdiepie's dlive launch was kind of lame
I love Pewdiepie and feel as though he thoroughly deserves his number 1 (or 2 depending on how the T-series beef is going) spot as a Youtuber.  Also even though dlive has a bit of a controversial past with Steemit, I still find time to celebrate his moving towards any blockchain-oriented service and away from the corporate overlords.  That being said, I found it near impossible to finish watching his initial run on dlive.

To be fair, it is tough for anyone to make an entertaining live anything really.  Pewd's 10 minute clips that he releases every day are heavily edited and no doubt have multiple takes and a script of sorts.  He also employs at least 2 editors to produce these gems.

Like many people, I only started using Dlive because Felix (Pewdiepie) announced he was transitioning to them.  Therefore, I was completely unfamiliar with the interface.  One thing that I wasn't expecting also happened though and that was that Felix was also unfamiliar with the interface and this was evident as he experienced technical issues and didn't really seem to know how to navigate the site.  

I think the biggest problem that he faced was that most of the streamers whose sites he went to were actually very boring.  The idea behind his inaugural run was to find interesting content creators and give away a bunch of money to them.  He had some difficulty finding people doing something interesting and it kind of just ended up being a handout - which is guess is fine.  

I will continue to watch him on Dlive but in the meantime I am trying to get on board with the platform but maybe I am just the wrong person for this because I don't generally like watching other people play videogames and that seems to be an awful lot of what is going on over there.  I hope that Pewds can bring and sustain attention towards Dlive and at the same time know there are a lot of hurt feelings in the Steemit community about this.  I don't even know what it is and if you do, maybe you can tell me.   In the meantime, any attention that can be brought to blockchain anything, in my mind, is good news.

Part of it is camaraderie. I stream two nights a week, playing retro games. I get people who drop in out of nostalgia, we talk about the game I'm playing, what's going on in their life, stuff like that. Watching someone play the game is only one part of it. Chatting with them while they play? Get to know them? That's something truly unique.

Hell, I've met some really awesome people in this way. One time, I was streaming this SNES platformer called B.O.B. It's a witty, fun game, with a cool soundtrack. I'm streaming the game, and what do you know? The speedrun record holder jumps into my chat, says hi, and hangs out for a while. I was garbage at the game compared to him! But we joked around, he shared strategies, we laughed at my failures, and we had a blast.

As for modern games, it's a while different dynamic. I tap into the retro nostalgia to spur my streams  can't help you on the other front.

I like pewds and everything, but meh, Dlive can eat a bag of mummified dicks that have just been dug up from cursed  sarcophagus's. Glad Felix was at least doing something nice for people through that platform though.

yeah, he was throwing money around like mad.  I think it was 50,000 dollars or something like that and to be honest, it probably wasn't even his money and even if it was, 50 grand to someone like him is like a dollar to me and you.  I suppose I can look up what Dlive did to "us" because I don't know about this.  I was never really a fan of live-streaming... maybe i am just too old :P

I was streaming a lot on Dlive before they up and schidoodled on Steemit, but they definitely made sure to give us a quick pounding with no lube before they left. It was certainly quite kind of them to say the least. There is a lot of info to read up on if you do start looking into it, so make sure you're on the toilet or maybe on a milking table at a massage parlor. 

And, you're not a fan of live streaming because you haven't heard me screaming like a 13 year old boy getting his penis ripped off by a vacuum while playing the Resident Evil 2 remake live on Twitch, that's why. Clearly.

They treated us badly dlive, but well in life sometimes it's always this cruel, pwediepie gave DLIVE that popularity and like you seems to want to continue watching, I hope one day STEEM can have a big YouTuber come here too.

Phew dlive did some ugly stuff ...

If you missed it, they used the steem blockchain just to test their stuff and build up a user base and from the beginning they had planned to leave steem with their users after that. Oh and they got a big steemit delegation they more or less used for their plan. Oh and in the beginning they said they will stay here. 

They acted like a big profit oriented company and used everything steem offered them without giving anything back.

Knowing that the big question is what are they planning now?

I am not sure if dlive is really decentralized or if everything is controlled by them hmmm

Without giving anything back?  So DLive never used that delegation to upvote streamers that in turn lead to Steemians earning STEEM/SBD?  Is that not giving back?  DLive and other users published monthly reports showing how they were upvoting and total votes.  DLive used their delegation to support Steemians better than any other dApp so far.  And those complaining about how DLive upvoted staff as well from the delegation should review how Fundition and other dApps were/are doing the exact same thing.  It's 1 thing to disagree with how they left Steemit, it is another to act like DLive didn't have a positive impact on Steem overall.  The whales liked to pile on DLive when they left, but where are they now with Vimm.TV?  Do you see them delegating to Vimm and supporting users of that platform?  No, you don't.

Not to mention, I don't think this has been said publicly before, but DLive received that delegation without any instruction from Ned/Steemit.  In fact the only direction they received at all from Ned was to not use the delegation to upvote Trevonjb.

I used to use Dlive here and there to stream some of my Diablo 3 and Hearthstone sessions when they were on the STEEM chain.  When they abandoned STEEM I pretty much gave up on them.  There are other platforms out there now for live video on STEEM, but I haven't gotten around to testing them out yet.

I actually thought the whole DLive thing was quite comical. They even ran a logo competition on Steem. They said they were updating their logo to the new black and yellow colors and no one picked it up. It is kind of obvious if you are aware of the other sites around. Everyone in the know was half asleep and got taken for a ride. They wont be the last ones either as others will probably do similar stuff in the future.
