## The Replacements - *Can't Hardly Wait*
## The Replacements are, without a doubt,
one of my all-time favorite bands. They were formed in 1979 in Minneapolis, MN, with Paul Westerberg, Bob and Tommy Stinson, and Chris Mars making up the line-up for most of the band's life. Though they were initially a punk band, Westerberg's was always interested in writing more original music, which allowed the group to constantly grow and evolve, eventually becoming known as the originators of 'alt. rock'. They took ideas from '50s and 60s rock, country, rockabilly, and blues, and created a sound and style that was entirely their own. They were known for having particularly loud, raucous, and often alcohol-fueld live performances, which didn't always help the group to get gigs, but did give them a bit of rock and roll street cred.

## This is the closing track
to the band's 5th studio release, 1987's ***Please to Meet Me***. Bob Stinson was not a part of the writing or recording of this album, as he had been kicked out of the group/quit due to alcohol and drug problems (though the other members still had their own issues), and it's the only release they would record as a trio. The songwriting had grown a lot since their previous album (***Tim***, in 1985), and they incorporated more dense instrumentation, utilizing strings and horns at certain points, and on this song in particular. This song uses both strings and horns, which feels a bit reminscent of songs like *Train in Vain* by **The Clash**.
